Guess what. Some of you may already know this, but here's the skinny:

My transmission is dead :(

58K miles, 35k turboed. It's gone...

I did have to repair something with the shifter cabling at a dealership right after I got the turbo so I think it already had problems, but last week, all of a sudden, bam - it wouldn't shift between 2nd & 3rd gears.

Dealership won't warranty it because of the turbo - they want $4k + tax to put in a new one.

I did have offers from a Toyo Tech foreman that they could warranty it if I remove the turbo, however, that's a big process. The main problem is my oil pan with the return line. I can't cap it and I don't have an un-tapped oil pan.

So.. here's what I'm going to do. Tomorrow I'm taking it to TAB Transmissions in Woodbridge, NJ. They specialize in Tranny repairs so they may be able to help me out for a decent price. I'm also a member of NJTuners - a local car scene, and several members have went there. They're a trusted shop and should be able to hook me up a little in terms of labor pricing.

Worst possible timing for this too - I have a wedding to go to this weekend up in Vermont :(

Umm, Larry, you just swapped a new motor in. Would you be willing to send the old oil pan up? If he's putting the turbo back on I'm sure he could send it back once the tranny is repaired.

That's another option but unless the transmission shop is gonna cost almost as much as a new tranny or a swapped in one, I'm gonna leave the turbo in.. Besides - they can most likely build it and make it stronger for me as well!

Yes it'll definitely fit. If you have it off the car, i might take you up on it, but let's see what the trans shop will say.

Yeah, see what's up, my old engine is in 3 different containers, and the oil pan is already off and sitting in one...

It's at my dads house in NOMD, but I can always pop up there and snag it and ship it if you need to use it until things work out obviously!
