shouldn't have any trouble. I'm sittin on S-techs with that size tire with no problems.
What's the offset on the wheels you are getting?

Offset is the distance from where the wheel mounts to the hub, to the centerline of the wheel. But if the shop you are buying the wheels from says the wheels will fit your car, you should be fine.

You will def. need to drop it though! My car looks like a monster truck right now because of the 18's...
The only problem area with the 225 tire is when you turn the wheel all the way in one direction... (once your lowered)

so basically if i dont drop the car after i put the rims on it will not look right? has anyone put on 18's without dropping it down?

haha, you can drop your car w/out putting 18s on. There are 18" wheels available for the tC as a factory option man. It won't look too silly, but if you lower the car it improves the appearance dramatically. As well as handling. It's always been a policy of mine that suspension comes before wheels. But i'm typically more of a go before show kinda guy.

yea thats the thing, my car is dinged up all over my hood from driving the highway everyday as well as my bumper so im not a show kind of person, i think my car is not in that great of shape to show it off... i just wanna dress it up cosmetically a little lol

and i said that backwards haha, i meant that you can put 18's on w/out dropping your car.
yea wheels are a great way to personalize your car. Maybe someday you'll decide to just lower the car a little bit, but rollin 18s on stock suspension is fine, and you definitely won't rub at stock ride height.

So how far can you lower the car without it rubbing on 18's?

Their is alotta controversy to that question! but I'll put my two cents in.... here goes
You can put on S-techs with 18's (about 2 1/2 inch drop) some people turn out more than that!
I would prefer doing H-techs which will be a lil higher than the S Techs
It all depends on your driving conditions as to how low you want to go!
I live in Washington D.C and the roads are horrible here so i went with TRDs... They will drop you about an inch maybe an inch and a half after they settle. All I was looking for was to fill in the wheelwell gap. Because 18s raise it up a lil(especially when you look at your car sitting next to someone elses that has stock 17s)

that sounds good to me i live i south philadelphia and the roads here are probably just as bad. Do you have any links or pictures of the ones your talking about?

just to throw in my 2 cents as well, i have Stechs w/ 18s and no problems. I drive on some rough roads occasionally and don't have so much trouble with rubbing as much as it's just a rough ride.

I have 18x8.5 wheels with 225/40 profile tires and dropped 2 inches via coilovers. No rubbing.

I had 225/40/18 on a 18x7.5 wheel with a +35 offset and I had no rubbing ever(I was on TRD springs) . The +35 offset pushes the wheels out to the edge of the fenders so it has a wider stance. The stock tC wheels are +42 just so you can compare. An 18" wheel with a +42 offset will tuck but might rub with the wheels at full turn.
11383225/40/18 on 18x8.5 w/ 38et with Hotchkis. I get Minor rub on the front outer edges on hard dips.
