View Full Version : Headers Question
Has anyone been able to put after market headers in the Tc's with out getting the check engine light to switch on? Do they make an after market O2 sensor that blocks the check engine light from triggering on?

I think you can buy an antifouler kit from AutoZone or a place like that, it will eliminate it...
One of my members did my CPR's the other day, worked fine... however, we had to drill out part of the actual antifouler to get it to work... let me see if I can get some info about it...

need a half inch drill bit to open one of the antifaulers up. Supposed I read somewhere that one brand won't kick on the CEL (might be DC or MMW), but the antifauler is under $4 for two (which is what you'll need).

or you can just buy the angle CEL fix and its a guarantee and looks clean.

bought my angled cel elimiator from ebay and it was like 20 bucks and never had an issue:mro: Here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ANGLE-Cel-fix-Hyundai-KIA-WRX-STI-EVO-350z-Civic-tC-RSX_W0QQitemZ150277466583QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item1 50277466583&_trkparms=72%3A64%7C39%3A1%7C65%3A12&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245.l1318) is an example that is universal but I bought one specifically for a tC. I dont know if the thread pitch on the s pipe is the same for all cars but it might work.

MMW comes with the CEL eliminator but all other header need the anti fouler MOD

antifouler mod FTW.
STEP 1
-purchase 2 spark plug anti foulers at your local auto parts store
-18 mm size
-made by HELP brand / part number 42002
-HELP has also another part number 42009 and are shorter in length than the 42002, i have heard they worked , but i am not 100 percent
STEP 2
-disconnect the negative terminal on your battery. this will reset your ecu
-take one of the anti foulers and drill out its center using a 1/2 bit ,
-this will increase its hole size and allow your stock o2 sensor to fit
STEP 3
-screw the drilled spark plug anti-fouler on top of the original
-be sure to use some kind of anti-seize on the treads. in case you need to remove your fix with ease
STEP 4
-unscrew your stock o2 sensor and place your cel / ses fix in
-use anti seize on the threads
-clean your cell (by wiping it off with a paper towel)
STEP 5
-reinstall your o2 sensor
-use anti seize on the threads
STEP 6
-reconnect your battery (your ecu is reset)
-you have just solved the problem of the 'damn light keeps coming on'
ps. its cost me 8 dollars for the pack of 2 spark plug anti-foulers
thats awesome info guys, does this mod work for any after market Headers or a specific type?

It doesnt actually connect to the header it connects to the s pipe after the header and should work with any header no problem.
cool thank for the info everyone. I really appreciate it.

I did the spark plug deal and the light came on after a little over 100 miles of operation, I have found the same discussion in scion life and this doesn't work, BUT!!!! after I put my s-pipe, the ECU light never came back on, it comes on every now and then but it depends on how hot it is or how humid it is... i didn't have time to read what everyone else typed, but this is my experience with this spark plug deal, I still have the antifouler tho, i never removed it, too lazy to change it, so personaly I think it works if you have an s-pipe

Did you get the code read when the light came on? It might be something else...

when i did mine i used 3 antifoulers cuz on the one of my friends tC which he owns a 07 he used two and the same thing happened. It came on every so often so he put another on and his light never came on. So i had my 06 tC get three put on to be safe and its been over 3000 miles and still no light. lol

If you use the one that I suggested you only have to by one and your good I swear. Over 3 thousand miles and never one issue. Installed one just like on a new xb and same thing no issues at all.
