Has anyone looked into swapping the 1AR-FE (Venza, Highlander, Sienna) into the tC2? Just an idea I'd kicked about since I first learned the gen2 was getting the 2AR. .3 extra liters and a few more horses and torque.

Well, I wouldn't do it unless my engine broke down beyond repair... I would rather get bolt-ons if I wanted a little more power and I never shift at redline anyways.

There have rumors of the Camry V6 sitting in a few of these. May be something to look into

Wow, I wouldn't mind a Camry V6.
But doesn't an engine swap involve quite a bit, including some modifications to the transmission in order to handle the increased power? Not too familiar with the process...

Depends on the transmission, I have no idea about the power handeling of the tc tranny but for the most part unless your going with some crazy numbers most trannys will hold regular street numbers, importance is in your clutch. As for engine swapping in general, it take a little work but the tc2 engine bay has quite a bit of room compared to some other cars ive seen so something slightly larger wouldnt be too much work. But seeing how these things are brand new, i honestly dont see why anyone would mess with it...yet.

And in California the engine has to come from a car made in the same year or newer...

1AR is a current motor. There's not a huge power difference but I'd think the larger motor would have a slightly better tuning potential.

i dont think theere is much if any aftermarket for the 1AR. i know the tranny in a tc and xb2 will bolt right up to a 2AR-FE and a1AR-FE. So no need for a new tranny inless you want a 6 speed.
