Hello everyone!!! i am looking into getting the supercharger for my 08 tC. but before i get it i am trying to find out if there is really any thing that needs to be done to it before hand. i am looking at the pulley that puts the super charger up to about 12.5 psi. but all i have done to my car is axle back muffler, and cold air intake. i know there has been other threads similar to this but not for 08s. let me know what you guys think. thanks

what CAI do you have??? if you have TRD im pretty sure you CANT use it with the SC.... and you should also get a full exhaust system with a SC. and the 08 SC is like 3 or 4k?? i tink, sumthing like that....but...u could get a small turbo for that price

The exhaust isn't as much of an issue on the sc like on a turbo, you don't need to worry about pulling extra heat away from a turbo or a little extra back pressure reducing efficiency.
FYI, if your CAI has the bypass valve, AEM says not to use it with a supercharger. Direct from their site:
Q: Can I use an Air Bypass Valve on a forced induction engine? A: Do NOT use an Air Bypass Valve on engines equipped with forced induction (turbo or superchargers). The increased flow demands created by the forced induction could damage the valve and lead to engine damage.

What I did is sell my TRD CAI and picked up a short ram. An Injen Hydroshield sock over the filter is also a good idea.

well i have the cai from customtc.com but it can be converted to short ram. but my main thing is will i blow any thing. b/c going to such a greater amount of HP will the clutch go out or will the stock headers hold all that pressure. same for all the gaskets. not to sound dumb but what do you mean by a bypass valve?

well my friend when do you plan on getting this lol....well if you want to get some headers i will pry have mine up for sale in the spring if my winter project goes as planned. But i think you can still keep your intake and run a intercooler. My input on the 12.5 psi pulley is i wouldnt do it if its ur daily driver i would go 9.5psi and i would put bigger fuel injectors on and a new clutch in and a short shifter just because you will have better smoother shifts that way and you wont lose power between shifts. Oh by the way we are meeting up at anthonys monday night about 6 or 630 7/27/08

ok a couple of things. u cant run a CAI with a s/c. if u rig it up to have the filter ran down into the fender with the s/c so its like a cold air intake u will run rich. prob end up losing power. and second headers are also not a good idea. for one you will lose your s/c warranty immediately if anything ever did happen to your car dealership will not fix it. the heat from the header is supposed to weaken the strength of the s/c shaft. yes its about 7-8 more whp with the header but is that worth losing the 50-60 whp given by your s/c. if u choose to go header i def recommend you heat wrap the header and the shaft to protect the s/c from the heat. now with the 12.5 psi pulley u are going to need a lot of stuff. your going to need to get a piggy back EMS and tune it for the car to run properly with the smaller pulley and the more boost. also u will need a bypass valve that can take that kinda boost. but yet again u alter the s/c in any way the warranty on it is gone. but if the warranty is of no concern i wish u luck with everything else. if your trying to squeeze all this power out of the s/c u can prob spend the same or less on a turbo kit and easily push more power. if u were u i would get the s/c get the 9.5 psi pulley and upgrade your bypass valve. there is a thread on how to beef up your s/c but unless u are trying to build a race car with a s/c i would stick with the 9.5 pulley. save u money and a hassle. with the exhaust situation with any forced induction such as turbo or s/c i would recommend 2.5 inch - 3 inch exhaust header back or turbo back exhaust whether its the factory header with a 2.5 inch s pipe, midpipe, and axel back or after market header 2.5 inch exhaust.

You can't run a 12PSI pulley without upgrades and tuning.
9.5PSI max, and that's on the stock reflashed ECU + upgraded bypass valve.

alright, thanks a lot everyone, maybe i will just stick with the 9.5, and doing all the other stuff to it. so if you can't run a cai then can you run a short ram?

Just remember. No matter what pulley you do, The stock pulley is held on by a tamper-proof bolt, so if you change pulleys....bye bye warranty.
And yes, most everyone runs short rams.

yea the first question to answer is if your expecting some kind of warrenty coverage to stay on the car. if yes through it all out the window and dont do a thing,
if not then have at whatever has been said in here. except wrapping the shaft of the supercharger, the header fine and should be enough but i wouldnt wrap the supercharger.
