So I have an xB, and am looking at getting some speakers in the back. I am not very car saavy, so that is why I need some help. I want them to be legit though, where I can play music loud enough to be pulled over (that won't happen though). What do you guys recommend? And obviously price is a consideration... About 250 or so right now is what i have.

Depends on what you want,if you want an allaround speaker,i would recommend alpine type-r 6 1/2"(cheap on www.hookedontronics (http://www.hookedontronics) ).The 6 1/2" will take place of the factory 5 1/4".The only problem is,then you'll have awsome sound in the rear and so so sound in the front. If you want bass, then check out www.edesignaudio.com (http://www.edesignaudio.com) ,its a local co. in ia.Their 6 1/2" subwoofers are pretty powerful for there size, one guy had 4 in his tc that surprised me alot or they have a very good shallow mount sub and box set up for the rear floor.Hope this helps

I have spoke with many audio guys and upgrading your rear speakers is truly useless. Unless you want to be able to open your back hatch and BLAST music then best to leave them be and get some great front speakers. Better for performance and SQL Competitions

I could see how what your saying that the rear speakers wouldnt do anything unless you open your hatch, but on the 2nd gen xb,the rear speakers are in the rear doors.Granted, you wont notice the diff as much as if you installed front speakers, but i think you would notice a diff.I have noticed i dont get much of any highs out of the rear speakers in mine,if your in the back seats it kinda sucks.

If you are looking for a cheap setup, try to look on ebay. I got coaxials in front, and in back, and I got a sub, box and amp for just over 500 dollars.though the coaxials were still the mort expensive, so I suggest a sub.

you could always build a setup like this.....

all i have in this setup is maybe 40.00 and they are loud as hell inside and when the hatch is open, i got them hooked up to a lil amp, and best of all they lite up at night. the panel is fiberglass and the speakers are DUAL illuminites 6.5, i know cheap but it made a hell of a difference in rear sound.
