Last year was my first and I loved it! So my vote is at either indiana again or mid ohio again since that's only like 20 min from me :).... but I definitely would like to see the auto cross, drag and track driving events again as well as either ken gushi or tanner foust show up again. That was pretty much the best day of my life haha

Greet suggestions Mike; I know both O'Reilly and Mid Ohio will be on the table for venues.
Ken Gushi is a possibility but Tanner Foust has announced a “temporary” retirement from drifting. His replacement is the 2010 Formula DRIFT Rookie of the Year, Fredric Aasbo. Another great Scion driver I would suggest is Chris Rado; Time Attack world record holder.

I really liked Mid-Ohio but O'Reilly would be even better. Another merger of both sales areas would be epic. I liked having vendors there also in all honesty. I think we could pass the wrap both this year though. Some of those were pretty bad looking, and not good bad, bad bad. And if Chris Rado was to come he would really only be able to show his stuff at Mid-Ohio, he really couldn't show his skills on an oval. I mean I suppose he could rock his drag tC but it wouldn't be as impressive, ya know. I mean anything will work since it is a free event for Scion owners, so as long as there is enough parking for all those who wanna show then I will be happy along with everyone else that comes will surly enjoy themselves.
That would be awesome but a lot of that stuff we had last year:

It was an awesome year, like stated numerous times. For those who are new and want to see all the parts you missed then click the link and watch the other 2 parts.

Bad ass William congrats! I'be got some ideas... but I'm on my phone right now so ill have to post again here in a bit lol... but one thing I will say is... I kinda hated oreilly... just because everything was Sooooooo spread out... took forever to get to anything.... I vote mid Ohio... or I mentioned to Greg that possibly down at kings island or even killkare... but mid Ohio for sure! I'll post more later... Congrats again

Chris Rado would be awesome! time attack that is. drag would be cool but i agree time attack would be much funner to watch. i hadnt heard about tanner's temporary retirement but it makes sense with all hes got goin on. i loved havin the merch booths and of course all the freebees. the mid-day lunch thing was a great idea. maybe some more family fun activites like different games and such that doesnt necessarily deal with scion, just to have more activities to do throughout the day. maybe a video booth where everyone can leave a video message about their day and their favorite part and what not, so scion can make a video collage for the site

OK here's my partial list of things ive come up with so far....
-more activities ( like mike said)... maybe see if we can get xbox on board to bring in a truck or something and have a halo: reach or black ops tourney... plust other games to chill and play.
-plus maybe a photo booth for your car! have a professional photographer come in and do a mock magazine cover with a model or the owner... and give it out as a keep sake.
- rafflle off some mods ( wheel and tire packages, coil systems or springs, boadway mirrors, higher end mods etc...) maybe something big per model and generation.
-do the trophies the same as last year those were BAD ASSED!
- dyno contest
- burn out contest
- misty fan (spray fans) lounge
- Deff. do the drift experience again but try for more winners! maybe 2 cars this year?!?!
- no wrap booth like JP said... maybe win a free tint job instead!
- MORE VENDORS!!!! ( racing soultion, seibon, scion pro, trd sparks, some bad ass sticker vendor... etc)
- really wanna see the pull over "SCION" hoodies as freebies along with fitted "SCION" flex fit hats =) and maybe an Exposed 2011 poster! and a full size scion back pack!
****** BIGGEST THING*******
MORE ADVANCED NOTICE OF EVENT TIME AND PLACE AND EARLIER RSVP!
thats all that i have for now!!!! lol

awesome your on the panel first!!
second. i love it being here in indy! not just because it was close, but had plenty of room, and events i though. while the heat was bad it was the time of year....so....mist fans i could see that.
but i def say love the auto events, can't leave that out IMO.
i would also add better chance for show cars like maybe roll through judging? be easier for the event judges and people could just come there in between events to be judged. i was dirty in events and don't believe i was judged...
not sure how but maybe a glow off some how under a tent?

ROll through judging prevents any extra time a owner needs to go through extra mods or set up their display.
It also kinda turns the event into a rushed vibe... And you miss out on alot of stuff during.
I do like the events late enough to have your lighting show up. Plus the later the less hot and quicker the sun goes down .
muzachead
04-11-2011, 02:14 PM
i do several shows with roll through and you have time to tell them about your mods.... i did not know they gave points for a display...they should say that.
the rushed vibe to me is going to a different event every hour like last year
ALSO...wanted to add keep food simular. i thought that is was good with the snacks, meal and drinks

Think about it like this... A super clean car that incorporates mirrors to show underneath.
Or the dude with the stripper pole, or someone that has there hatch converted to skee ball (just kidding) but there is lots lost in that set up.
Judging should follow the guidelines of events, like HIN so everyone gets a fair shot and no one feels cheated
SCIONtologist
04-11-2011, 02:54 PM
not to be a douche! but roll thru judging is just lazy... you work hard to set the car up and set up all your shit to make it POP... make the judges walk lol... and get a chance to sit and chat with you about your car not roll thru like barrett jackson... lol

totally thread jacking this but...this is a suggestions thread.
and i have a couple BIG shows i go to and they are that way, i don't mind driving to them.
it's up to the people putting the show on....whatever, my point was, i was not sure i was judged for the car part and it was hard with all the other events going on... just like all events communication is key.
and i saw no one last year with mirrors under their car or a display they could not drive. it just felt more like a performance event, not show and shine
MikeZxB

As far as judging goes I say keep it a parked show set at a certain time of day. Once your car is judged put a small sticker or a card on your windsheild. If you intend to discuss your mods just know to be at your car during the judging time slot. That seems the fairest to me. Also I dig the photographer/mock mag cover thing. Mod raffle sounds good to me even if it is just small minor mods.

Dude...I agreed with everything you suggested but the roll through.
I was simply stating reasons I have seen that become a issue.
I'd like to see a pro photographer there producing a couple of magazine ready pics for all owners to do with as they like. Maybe sent to us on a Scion Flash Drive
May I suggest Jeff Creech

The setup for the food last year was nice. Everyone got a card that had a time when you were supposed to be in the food tent to eat. That kept everything organized and not everyone rushed in to eat all at the same time. I liked that there were snacks available in addition to your meal as well. Maybe a separate booth with just drinks available throughout the whole event.
I'm all about a parked car show at a set time.
The photo booth/fake magazine cover sounds awesome.
The video you posted earlier has a ton of great ideas in it and that looked pretty sweet to me!
I agree with the later show. Not as hot and people do put a lot of time and money into their lights, which do not get to be seen during the day. Maybe a later "show" for those vehicles?

Glad everyone is up for my photo shoot idea! would really like that to happen! I also have some one that has mad skill in shooting cars but she's clear in Orlando... not "professional" but mad skill and probably really cheap! she took 95% of my tc shots on my Facebook but has only gotten better... her old jetta was actually covered on euro tuner magazine.. she's a car nut...

Free swag in Vendor Alley never hurts either!
I'm torn between voting for Mid-Ohio or Indy. I've never been to Mid-Ohio, but Indy was so much fun last year, I don't know how it could get much better than that.

I've been to 06, 07, 08, and '10. At Indy I liked the driving events, primarily the auto-X. Also the vendor area was nice but could be easily replicated at another location. The drift demo was cool but again could be replicated at another location.
At Mid-Ohio there was real racing going on on the track. You could walk the paddock and see the racecars up close. There were other groups there showing off their cars. The parade lap may have been slower but it was longer and more memorable.
Also think about ride-alongs at Mid-Ohio. For anyone who rode with Gushi at Exposed '10 imagine hitting real corners on a real track instead of going around a parking lot. Elevation changes, cambered corners, and a real surface. It would also be sweet to see the World Racing Time Attack tC out at the track. The drag tC was out in 08 (?) but never got to fire up because you couldn't take a drag car in the road course. Rides in a 1200hp AWD tC anyone? Yus pl0x!

LOL, I'm not sure, I fell asleep half way around. It felt like a funeral caravan. Being able to go a little faster at Indy was cool. But I like road courses better than ovals. Just saying.
What vendors do you guys want to see? World-Motorsports, Descendant, AEM, ScionPro, Killerglass, Clazzio, Oznium, maybe a vinyl decal booth, a tint booth, wheels booth, etc.

I would love a higher speed road course caravan at mid-ohio, not to mention a ride-along in the time attack would be life changing for me. In a good way. However getting gushi at mid-ohio would be just as satisfying for me. I loved indy so if it boils down to it I wouldn't mind it being there again. I always love a road trip too. By overall my vote goes mid-ohio.

We could only do a caravan parade at Mid-Ohio in the past because there are real races going on at the same time as Exposed. The only Scions the can tear up the road will be the professional drivers like Gushi or Rado; unless Mid-Ohio changed their rules from 3 years ago.
Mid-Ohio does not have a drag strip.
We can do an Auto-X in the parking lot like at Indy.

cons of mid ohio.... dusty and dirty, they will never allow us to drive over 30 for legal reasons(we begged b4) and I dont want to be around the super noisy track when it isnt even scions
pros of indy - no gravel, drag track, and being closer to IL we will pull in 50% more cars fact!

cons of mid ohio.... dusty and dirty, they will never allow us to drive over 30 for legal reasons(we begged b4) and I dont want to be around the super noisy track when it isnt even scions the dirt isn't that bad at Mid-Ohio. Honestly I never even noticed it the three years I was there. There's no reason to let amateur drivers go fast on a track, especially when they've proven in the past they can't be mature enough to follow the rules already in place (passing, burn-outs, and near spins from speeding in corners). Road race cars are a lot quieter than the pro-stock and JR dragsters, which contained NO SCIONS, that were running on the drag strip at 2010.

Not much gravel but everyone did have to park in the grass at Lucas Oil. At Mid-Ohio most people parked in the parking lot across from pit lane. Drag racing is for fast cars and ricers. Scions are slow BUT most Scion drivers are ricers. We can call that a draw. IL cars not coming is BS. I'd be willing to wager that every year at Mid-OH there were more cars from CHICAGO than the state of KY.

Would love to see a dual region event again. Out of all the Exposed events I have attended Indy was by far my favorite. Really hoping they have it there again this year.
I suggest this every year so here it goes again... Exposed needs more trophies. Would love for them to double or triple the show awards. Maybe have a few different classes for each vehicle.

Agreed. I think there is enough entry's to do a top 10 of each model maybe even a top 5 of three categories for each model like we do for Asylum (stock mild wild).

Also if we go where there is an ability to run on the track then they need to have it be more fluid running and keep things under control. Mid-Ohio you had the jack***es who would stop on the track during our lap and then burn rubber and fly up on the rear bumper of the Scion in front of them, at Indy the laps were an awesome idea, but flawed because they had so many gaps and had so much down time between groups where the drivers were just sitting on the track waiting for their chance. Just a personal observation.

Evo,
I have a similar thread over on OS about suggestions for this years event. Me and another guy are also serving on this years panel. I will PM you my cell number. Would like to get all of our ideas together before we head down to the Nati! I am going to VERY strongly promote Mid-Ohio as it is not only in our state and region, I thought the events there were always the best! Plus, being that my first Exposed event was at Mid-Ohio, I am kinda jaded LOL. Also, I just got my box of stuff from Scion in the mail today! I was floored! I'm looking forward to meeting all the panel members and making this years event the best one yet. Between our two clubs, we should be able to come up with some damn good ideas. I just hope that the economy doesn't limit some of our ideas.
What's up, Scikos?

Here are my thoughts on some things:
Location - If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Mid-Ohio is one of the best locations due to the fact that it is in the center of the Ohio region. I can't understand why Scion would want to host an OHIO event out of state. If the goal is to benefit this region, keep it in this region. I didn't make it to last years event, but like other posters stated, anything they had there can be duplicated elsewhere.
Vendors- YES YES YES!! People go to shows to get ideas for their own vehicles. Having vendors there to sell products can only help boost the economy. I want to suggest that Toyota even brings a truck full of TRD stuff that people can buy and install in their cars right there in the parking lot. How cool would it to be to show off your shiny CAI and tell people "I bought AND installed it at the 2011 Exposed event!". Every car show I've ever gone to has a HUGE vendor area where people sell items related to the events. Exposed should be no different.
Music - I thought the music at 2009 Exposed was terrible. The band at Cedar Point was a waste of time. Scion has always been about the underground, hip-hop, urban scene. I had an idea. Instead of Scion just hiring a DJ, how about Scion owners providing the music? They could submit their demos the way we entered the Exposed panel. Then Scion can pick a certain number of people to spin the tunes at the event. Not only is it cost saving, but it gets the owners involved!
Events - How about a portable dyno that you can pay a small fee to see the numbers your car is putting down? Other than that, I like the chill out, lounge area that was at the 2008 event. Have a place to escape the heat, drink a beverage, play video games, etc.
These are just a few ideas.

I love these ideas man! I think having as many vendors as possible is a great idea and makes a lot of sense. The portable dyno would be a big hit as well. Your idea about us submitting our own music is awesome because that was part of the appeal of my buying a tc in the first place... the fact that i could make it my own. Since scion is all about personalizing your experience, i figure that should apply to the scion events as well! In any case, that's a really cool way to get everyone involved even in a small way.

Good ideas moose... glad to see the clubs co-mingling... I mentioned the dump idea earlier in the thread but not with any depth to it... the fee would be okay... but don't think it should cost... but that's my opinion.... I also mentioned something about trying to get xbox to bring in a game trailer and have a small halo reach or black ops tourney... or just a place to play some games to escape the heat...and relax.... posted quite a few more ideas also... if you wanna check them out... once again glad to see the clubs co-mingling... and Congrats on the panel... should be a great event! Having Microsoft bring in a gaming trailer might cost a good bit of $$$. I remember the video game area at Mid-Ohio in 2008, but can't remember if Microsoft provided it or if Scion just built it for the show and supplied the gear. Either way, I think Scion will lean towards the more cost-effective option.
I remember the video trailer at the 2008 Exposed and loved it! I also loved the claw-game at the 2009 Exposed where you direct the claw and try to grab a toy. Little things like that hit all the right buttons. It's cheap, gives people something to do, and provides a nice little diversion from the other events.
I also love the suggestion about the photo booth / magazine cover thing. That would only require a tent, a photographer, and maybe a few scantily clad Scion girls to press their goodies against your car! :bootyshake:

Having Microsoft bring in a gaming trailer might cost a good bit of $$$. LOL..
Yeah didn't know if we could get xbox to go in and sponsor it to us... just a thought lol... yeah more activities the better... raffle off some hpi cars... parts..... like I told William I really would like to see as registration freebies... pullover pure scion hoodies and flex fit hats.... just strictly scion... been hunting for.those items for ever! As far as the photo booth/ magazine cover deal.... a good friend of mine is killer with car pix! I posted a link earlier for her tumblr account... only problem is she lives in Orlando... already spoke with her about and she's deff. Down for it... so let me. Know if she's an option or not.. would be nice since I haven't seen her like 4 years lol...

Portable Dyno has been done at Exposed events and could entertain some people. Keep in mind when spending your event budget that you want to entertain the most people for the money. Dyno is going to only be for 5% of the people at the most because of time.
For the video game entertainment, try to see what is the hottest new gaming system out there and see if they will bring their trailer to the the event or supply systems for a tent as part of their marketing program. I think that is what they did with xBox. Granted it was also convenient that the xB was a Box at the time.
The installation at the event is going to be hard due to insurance reasons, most private property like this would have a no working on cars policy.
My suggestion is try to combine regions again and do a have a contest to enter to be a part of the design team of each region for a build off between the two regions. If that is not possible have a photoshop design contest of people's dream builds or have an activity area with pencils and markers to create your dream build there at the event. Then everyone's drawings could be scanned in for an online contest after the event for prizes like wheels, TRD items, or something along those lines.
Also make sure you have incentives for people to post up their photos after the event. Always seems that after the event it never really gets talked about.

Great points Charlie,
*It's also time consuming to setup a automobile up on a Dyno. I don't think whp appeals to the masses.
*An idea I've been tossing around is, if we get new drifter Fredric Aasbo's Team Need for Speed tC at exposed then maybe we can get Best Buy to have their XBox van at Exposed. We can tie it all in together by having a Need for Speed: Shift 2 game tournament. Have prize give aways like XBox systems, Games, Best Buy gift cards.
*Simple installs shouldn't be a problem, we can at lease check on it.
*Combining the event with Chicago again is the only way I think we are going to be able to afford Indy again, IF we have it there.
* I don't know why Scion doesn't let past event photos on GoExposed.com be able to be downloaded. But being able to download a picture of your car at Exposed would be a big hit with owners.

William, I have some more connections in Indy for things like live bands, tint booth, parts vendors, etc. If it looks like Indy will be in the running PM me or call me and I will give you some contact info.

I want T-shirts for fat guys... I know a lot of Scion owners that are big people and while we appreciate the T-shirt thought, and the attempt to go big with XXL shirts... some of us need 4x.
maybe put shirt sizes required on the registration, so that you can get the appropriate sizes in numbers for everyone.

Good point Jonas. Personally I don't have a problem getting a shirt unless they are out of mediums, unless they are out of them.

First off I'm glad to see you on here again Moose and congrats on getting on the panel also... and I gotta ask who the other one was. :mrblue:
Okay onto the suggestions you made. I liked Mid-Ohio but I got bored after awhile and it was hard to talk to other owners. The bored part could be taken care of by having a ton more things to look at like games, movie areas, vendors, etc., but being able to converse is also a big part of Exposed without having to basically scream at each other (LOL) and all I have to say is NOTHING LIKE CEDAR POINT AGAIN. If you don't know why I'm strongly against Cedar Point shoot me a PM and I will explain my reasoning. I mean don't get me wrong the ability to watch the race was pretty entertaining and from what they are saying about time frame I'm not sure that any races would be going on at that point in the season. And I know that you missed out on Indy Exposed (which sucked cause I missed talking/hanging with ya), but it was good because they were able to link the two regions to bring in more owners and have a higher budget, and you have to remember this was started by the Ohio region but it is for the Scion owners of all over so anything they can do to bring in more owners they will do and sadly it seemed to be in another state. But according to their numbers at the end of the event last year they had more than they ever had at any other event to date, by a good amount too just imagine if more of the usuals were able to make it like you. On Club xB, here, and I'm sure OS also all had people saying that they were going to go and signed up and everything. Okay enough of my $.02 on the location and why I think Indy again would be better.
With the Vendors... I'm all for vendors and the thought on bringing in a TRD semi full of parts for only Scions (all makes and generations) would be completely awesome. Whether or not we can install there I'm kinda indifferent on because I wouldn't want to do it there anyways... personally but I would display what I bought.
Music... I fully agree on this man. Let the owners rock the mic and spin the records. That would be cool because it would get in some unsigned artists and get them some publicity with the public. And if they can't do that see if they can bring in deadmau5. LOL (THAT WOULD JUST BE TOO COOL.)
Other entertainment... I like the thought of doing video game/movie/chill booths. I know at Indy last year they had those huge cooling AC kind of fans there for people to sit in front of if they got too hot which I used for a little while (since I fell asleep in the chair for like 30mins LOL). And I like the idea that Will had and try to get Team NFS there (all parts of it if possible) and let the video games be NFS: Shift2. I would recommend doing PS3s though simply because people could bring flash drives with their data on it and be able to play with cars they created where if memory serves me right you have to have an account on a 360 and logged in to play with your data. I say no to Halo but yes to Black Ops if they wanted to do a non car game, just simply because I hate Halo (LOL) and I have the whole military theme so I like the "real" military games.

And you can get the pics off of goexposed.com, I have a couple on mine, you just gotta know how to play the system. :geek:
Okay I think that is enough for now. LOL
Oh yeah once again welcome back Moose.

Agree with a lot that has been stated on this. I would like more of a set time to be judged. Would be hard for me on a roll thru to open my hood sideways!
Also love the idea of photo/magazine cover as well!
I vote Indy as well. Not just because it's close to me but it has plenty of space and I like having the drag strip and the oval as well!
Having last later in the day will be better IMO for any place just do to not only heat but a lot of us have glow on our cars that don't get to show off at a lot of shows!

Full sized backpacks!!!!!!!!!!!
Other than that the usual would be awesome. Because I know that every year they have one really special thing that you can't just pick up at the dealerships and I would just like to see a full sized backpack to be given. It is constantly recommended over the years and still no backpacks. LOL

Something better than backpacks, I have 2 of them already. The backpack is a common freebie used all over the US. Come up with something that you can only get by going to this show.
Maybe a tool caddy like this

or a tool bag

I think we're all struggling with the new stuff lol. But about the location i'd prefer Indy cuz i'm biased haha. last year was my first year and i would have to say it was an awesome event and better than i imagined it would be. i love the back pack idea and i think it'd be cool if we raffled off stuffed bags with limited edition scion stuff as well as coupon's from vendors for parts and what not.

Has a location been picked? I have a location suggestion in NY. It's a private owned road course, which does a lot with owners clubs for high end cars. Monticello Motorsports Park I think it was called. Don't know where exactly the range is that exposed was lookin for.

I agree that would be pretty awesome. Just have like maybe 10 stuffed bags of some kind to be raffled off. I mean they could have like stuff from region meets the whole CD collection... to date at least. Along with like one or two vouchers from vendors. Like one be for TRD in all the bags and then one random one from one of vendors at the event. Personally that could be a really cool idea. I mean I wouldn't win one but it would be cool to see it and find those who got it to see what all was in it. :D

Nice talking to you on the phone. Sounds like things are starting to come together quickly! I hope we can walk into the meeting with guns blazin' and get some support from the region. With all of our ideas, we should be able to save Scion alot of money which hopefully will mean better freebies for the owners!! :Banane22:
