NOPI Motorsports
Cancels Summer and Fall
events for 2008

It is with great regret that NOPI Motorsports, LLC has suspended operations for the summer and fall 2008. This will include NOPI Drag Racing Series, NOPI Drift Series and the NOPI NATIONALS Motorsports Supershow. The company is undergoing an organizational restructuring in light of severe adverse affects of a disappointing spring season. The economy and unfavorable weather resulted in underperformance of all spring events. Michael Meyers, president of NOPI Motorsports, reports that NOPI Motorsports is working with its clients and sponsors to minimize the uncertainty going forward. This is a reflection of the economic times in which we currently live. The countrywide economic and industry downturn has caused a slowdown and tightening of belts. This affects everyone and companies, at all levels, and NOPI Motorsports is no different.

We understand the position this puts everyone in and we hope you can find in your heart to work with us through this terrible time. All of you are our friends and we have felt for many years that we were all a big family.

NOPI Motorsports hates this more than anyone as the many years of hard work, tradition and an industry we helped to shape would come to this.

Please watch nopi.com for future announcements.

I wonder what shows will be next, since we likely will never see the price of fuel going down again, what do you think it'll be HIN? Hot Rod Power Tour?

This sucks.

Hin is not stretched quite as thin as Nopi was/is. I am not even so sure that i see NOPI coming back next year, or the parts store online lasting linger than a year. They stocked up on too many ricey items in the late 90s early 2000s and then invested heavily in what is now almost a dead sport, Import Drag Racing. While there is still a market for that sport, the key is the projected growth never hit the peak it was expected too, so the xplod sony series, xbox cup and Battle of th imports, the NHRA merging w the NIRA, this stretched the whole scene thin.

Top it off with NOPI gambling on the future of Travelling car shows, drifting (fad, but cool!), and too many other ventures at once, it had volitale written all over.

Over all I wish the Meyers brothers luck, and we have already been in contact with the folks at HIN to see if perhaps they can provide any support or insight as to what the scene can do to help, it always hurts to see a fallen pioneer like this.

HIN however is a money making machine...they are not stretched thin at all, and are very wise with there business decisioins. As political and trendy as HIN is, it will always be around, doing its thing.

SOrry HAD to chime in, I am HELLA depressed bout the Nats....

I'm depressed now because my first trip to NOPI Nationals has now been cancelled.

I guess now all I have to look forward to is Import and Truck Bash...which is rapidly approaching. Not quite as large as NOPI but, I guess now it will have to due.

I've heard rumors of Atlanta Motor Speedway stepping in and trying to do something, I'm investigating these rumors and will let everyone know as soon as I find something out.

Show is back on, it's just not called NOPI anymore...

J.Bird announces the launch of The Motorsport Nationals Supershow to be held at the Atlanta Motor Speedway on September 20 and 21, 2008.

After the overwhelming outpouring from thousands of fans and the entire motorsports industry, NOPI TV star J.Bird announces his effort to launch the Motorsport Nationals Supershow to be held on September 20 and 21, 2008 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. After hearing that NOPI Motorsports, LLC had announced cancellation of the NOPI Nationals, J.Bird began his effort to launch and promote another event to replace the NOPI event.

“We just couldn’t let everyone down, the show at the speedway has grown to be one of the largest of it’s kind in the world”, J.Bird was quoted as saying earlier today. The Supershow will have much of the same look and feel as in years gone by, with thousands of show cars and trucks in the car show, a gigantic burn out contest, tons of industry vendors and booths, live music from top artists, and of course a swimsuit competition which will include all those beautiful girls you’ve come to expect whenever J.Bird hits a motorsports stage! The one new element the show will include for 2008 will be drag racing! Atlanta Motor Speedway has been developing quite a drag racing program on Friday nights over the past few years, and the show will try to incorporate that element into the 2008 Supershow.
