Hey everyone- It has been almost a year since our last camping trip, so here it is:
Scikotics Summer Camping/Beach Trip!
Friday August 1st thru Sunday August 3rd
Lawson's Landing at Dillon Beach (http://www.lawsonslanding.com/)
People coming for the day (not staying overnight) on Saturday the fee for day use (until 8pm) is $7.00.
Overnight campers: The fee is $23 per vehicle per night.
Dillon Beach is a short walk from the camp area, and there is a 'pay' day use beach just outside of the resort that has picnic tables and no dunes that charges a nominal fee for parking.
Bring tents, sleeping bags, portable chairs, camping stoves, coolers/ice chests, folding tables (if you can fit them into your ride), food, drinks (Please DO NOT bring alcohol if you are under 21, they may confiscate it at the gate and possibly deny you entry), and any other items you might want for a weekend at the beach (kites, sand implements, swim suits, etc).
There is a small general store in the village of Dillon Beach that has ice, food items, propane cylinders, Coleman fuel, cigarettes, beer, sodas, and other sundry items if you need them. A pay phone is also available there (some cell providers may have little to no service out here). Firewood is available at the front gate of the resort. I recommend bringing a box of firewood with you if you can carry it as it is cheaper that way.
Usually the oyster truck from Tomales Bay Oyster Co. comes out and sells fresh oysters at a good price at least once a day- we usually do BBQ oysters as appetizers on Saturday night. Also the Schwan's truck has been known to make an appearance, if you wanted to pick up something 'more' for meals, and Schwan's accepts credit cards, even out there!
Dogs on leash are allowed and there is no additional charge to bring the family pet to the beach with you. However, please be aware that while walking your dog on the beach, be certain to keep your pet under control. Do not allow your dog to chase shore birds or seals. Some birds are protected like the "Western Snowy Plover" and require you to keep your distance. Marine mammals are also protected and you and your pet should stay a good distance from them when they are on the beach.
Quiet hours are from 10pm-6am daily. After that time, just keep it to a dull roar and we should all be fine. Marin County Sheriff's Dept. does patrol the resort after dark, usually looking for people being stupid or underage with alcohol - keep the booze in the camp.
Marin County has a zero-tolerance policy with fireworks. Please Do NOT bring them into the resort. If caught, you will be asked to leave the resort.
There will be a firepit for the evenings and propane stoves and at least one BBQ grill for those who might be cooking or grilling. We can do a communal cooking thing, do your own thing foodwise, or any combination you want, anyone who was with us last year knows I bring lots of food and ways to cook it.
Bring jackets and/or other warm clothes for the evenings, as it usually gets cold and windy after dark (just like at a Westbay meet) ;-) also don't forget sunscreen for the daytime, once the fog leaves it can get down right hot out there.
The camp areas are for the most part 'lowered car' friendly, just don't park in the deep sand areas - try to stay on the grass or gravel parts of the site. If you have another vehicle you'd rather take instead of the Scion, feel free to take it - For example, Aaron is leaving his tC at home and taking the Trooper, as it can carry more stuff...
Those who wish to arrive on Friday evening, we can arrange a meeting point in either Marin or Petaluma and we will roll out to Lawson's from there.
Here is a map and directions:

Lawson's Landing is located in the northwestern corner of Marin County. We are about (1.5) one and a half hours north of the Golden Gate Bridge with the Pacific Ocean as our western boundary and Tomales Bay as our southern. Coming from inland areas you want to head west on Washington St. in Petaluma. Traveling toward Bodega Bay about ( 8 ) eight miles, then make a left on Tomales Rd. At the stop sign on highway one make a right turn up the hill into Tomales. Take the first left on Dillon Beach Road (4) four miles to Dillon Beach. Lawson's Landing is at the end of the county road south of Dillon Beach.
Roll Call (Please state if you are going for just the day on Saturday, overnight on Saturday, or for the entire weekend (Fri afternoon thru Sunday morning)):
1. MovieTech (Fri-Sun) + 2
2. MommaKat (Fri-Sun) + son, his girl and my youngest grandbaby, sorry..the oldest ones won't be back from their dad's yet.
