my 06 xB has a problem at hot temperatures. when I shift from 2nd to 3rd and the transmission grinds. at 30 mph you can push the clutch in and not hit the gas and try to shift from 2nd to 3rd or downshift back and boom it grinds. this only happens at ambient temps of 90 degrees or more. I have changed the manual gear oil as specified in the service manual. I even changed it last week thinking the fluid was breaking down but it wasnt. the 75000 miles are all highway. Should I use lucas or a friction modifier in the tranny, and correct me if im wrong but isnt our powertrain warranty 50k or is it 100k miles..I think my syncro is going out but normally it will go out and not work, not normally an intermittent problem...:bangin:

Sounds like sync issues... my tC is having sync issues too... although mine is only from 3rd into 2nd at normal to lil bit higher speeds, downshifting...

:blind:ok I tried changing the gear oil to royal purple 75w90 full synthetic meeting toyota oil standards and what do you know the grind is dissappearing.... at last change (3000 miles ago..) all the parts store had was 80w140 mobile 1 synthetic not meeting toyota standards and i goofed and used it like an idiot.... I learned my lesson. if the parts store does not have the proper fluid dont use their reccomendation. stick to the manual....
