Inside Light

Hey Everyone,

I am looking for some help. My automatic gear shift inside light ( with headlights on) has quit working. When I bought the car, it did not work, so I just assumed that it did not light up. It just lit up on the cluster panel. The other night it just came on. Well it is now not working again. Can anyone tell me if that sounds like the fuse, or might it be another problem, If it might be the fuse, which one controls that. It does not say in the owners man. I don't know what the problem is, but I know exactly what you're talking about, if you mean the indicator with the p-r-n-d-2-l letters directly next to the shifter. sometimes mine lights up, most times it doesn't. sometimes if i bump it right it comes on, which tells me it's probably some kind of bad connection or something.

Sounds like it might be a bad connection to the bulb. Have you tried checking to see if the bulb is in all the way?

Poor connection. To get to it, take your center console out and the bulb is visible on the driver side of the shifter. I switched mine to an LED, and had that problem right off the bat. I had to go back in and bend the contacts to get a better connection.
