hey anyone know anything about tanabe springs and how their quality is? i want to lower my car more. its just not low enough. so im thinking about getting the tanabe df210 for my tc. $180 buck for 1.7 in the front and 2.2 in the rear. when trd is only supposed to be like 1 1/4 all around if even that. also thinking of the eibach sportline kit for $215 and it lowers 2 inches all the way around. i know eibach and tanabe make great products so idk. also thinking about going with tien h techs i was thinking about the s techs but that a lil too low. so its either tien h techs, tanabe df210, or the eibach sportlines. im on TRD springs right now and its just not low enough. someone help. pls post pics if u have any of these springs.

you could always get hotchkis, I got them and the drop is even and the rear and front are sitting equal on it. I see a lot of people with tein's that have the rear dropped lower. It depends all on what you want though. I love my springs and the ride is pretty much stock feeling, I encounter bumps and don't notice them any more than when I had stock springs in. I've scraped once with them and that was because the dip was really really bad, but no problems what so ever. They also come with new bumpstops included.

i would say hotchkis or get S-techs ftw! if the df210 drop is 2 in you mine as well get the s- techs they are so sexy

yea but i dont want hotchkis or the s techs. i want to go lower than the hotchkis but not as low as the s techs in the front. the eibachs are something im leaning a lil more towards so idk.

i have the less drop version of the H&Rs (sport), i like them a lot. i would guess the pro version are the same only lower.

the sport are like the trds only they drop the front a little lower then the back, (around 1.4F/1.3R or so)

actually the hotchkis sits lower than they say. The drop on mine is much bigger than I though it be and when I told people it's only suppose to be 1.7 or w/e it was they say it's like an even 2

if your looking to go that route, my 2 cents would be the tein h. techs which im riding on, it is a quality ride, and ive been on them for 6-8 months.........you can get them at a real good price, be sure not to accidentally go s. tech, may be a little too low for ya.this is how it sits.

alright guys since i have been looking around at pics and talking to peeps on scionlife im leaning more towards the hotchkis springs. a lot of ppl go from the trd to the hotchkis because the front is just not low enough and the hotchkis evens out the car so im liking that. so im kinda leaning more towards the hotchkis. i just hope its low enough lol.

I really wish I could show you some close ups on how low it is, but I don't have any close ones, this is the only one I have and it's not the greatest shot

yea but im looking for a lil lower than that.
if your looking a little lower, look at strikes photo, ive seen his drop in person, and it sits well, or tein s. techs, your call homie.

yea i hear ya. def lower than H techs which would be the hotchkis. but not as low as the s techs. tanabe df210s drop it the same in the front as the hotchkis but more in the back. if ima drop it i would like it kinda to be level all around. so i am kinda thinking the hotchkis. tanabes look good too but idk starting to lean towards the hotchkis. any more word on the hotchkis springs breaking? i know a guy posted a thread about his hotchkis springs rusting and breaking. i would rather not go through that.

his springs went through hell before that happened. He lived in a bad weather area and the road was always covered in salt. The springs are fine but the conditions he lived in were horrible. And that was the only case I've heard of. It wasn't a bad batch of springs or anything just his area lol

thats all I can say too. Buy which one's you like. Buy the ones that will suit you best. I drive a lot and sometimes drive upstate to jersey and whenever I go the roads are horrible, so I got the hotchkis because of the ride and the lowering. If you autocross get coilovers, but if it's just a daily driver and you want a little bit more performance with not a drastic drop get springs.
I checked mine today, I can get 1 and half fingers in between the wheel and the fender so the drop is good. I've had them for.....2 months now I think and nothing is wrong with them. A bit of a issue with the person who did the install and that was the only noise I heard from them.

Well let me be the first to say, I have the tein S-techs, and for where I currently live, they are too much of a drop (sc). its a 2.4" in the front that kills you. its 2" in the rear which sits nice, but toooo much frontal drop. a 2" in the front and a 2" in the rear is about perfect, you can go alot lower in the rear and be fine, but it all depends on your exhaust. 2" in the rear gives me about 6 inches of clearance on my exhaust. but about 1-1.5" of front bumper on the fronts. but i have to say, they have not sagged .0001" in the 3 years i have had them.

strike69
07-03-2008, 08:51 AM
damn that sounds horrid. The drop is too drastic for me and I'd be scraping my front bumper everywhere. I sort of get the fact that you need to do bumps at an angle and all that, which I can manage but even when I go over some really crappy rail road tracks is where I get pissed off. If I lived somewhere that had perfectly smooth roads I'd probably would have gone with s-techs
