My wife(Snow White-VMFIC Indy) and I had 2 fiberglass enclosures built for her 2 12" Treo TSX subs. When the enclosures were built, we were told that they required 1.1 cu ft of airspace is sealed and 1.6cu ft of airspace if ported (for each sub).

3 weeks after the enclosures were finished, one sub has blown. We are wondering if we should just buy another 12" Treo TSX to replace the blown one or if we should look more closely at purchasing a new set of subs that will be compatible with the size of these boxes. Also, does anyone know how we can determine if a sub requires 1.1 cu ft of airspace in a sealed enclosure (because that's what we have). Obviously, I know if you look at the specs of a sub it should tell you, but where do we start? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Sciko's

the specs for the size of enclosure needed for a sub usually comes with the sub when you buy it or you can try the website if you cant locate the paperwork...there you found it...scroll all the ay to the bottom

if a sub blew after 3 weeks then there is some clipping going on. Either you have signal clipping at the amp or the source unit, or the sub is over excurting. You don't need to get different subs. 1.1cuft sounds about right but I am not sure exactly what that sub needs. Either way the system needs to be tuned and you won't have any more problems.

I am not sure exactly what has been done to the amps as far as tuning goes, but Nikki told me that when she took it in to a friend of ours, he stated that the gains on all three of the amps were set way to high. I believe that he readjusted everything, but I need to talk to him in person. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
Thanks from your Honda buddy:)

Easy way to do this...

Get a 1 cubic box... fill it with packing peanuts... Shake it make sure its packed... Pour that into your sub box shake it make sure its good... you should have very little space left.. after..

distortion, clipping, will definitely blow a speaker..i would re-check the gains if possible and to see what the rms power recommendations are on tha subs..as well as looking at the rms power the amp provides.
