I am looking at doin my first mod to my already slightly modded B. I am going to focus mostly on the jewelry box for now ( engine bay ). The jewelry box on mine is bone stock, no mods whatsoever. The first mod I would like to do is put an aftermarket header on her. Im no so much interested in the hp gain, as I am raising the appearance under the hood.

My question is, can I add a header and maintain the quite ( almost nonexistent ) sound of my B? I just got out of a Honda that had a full catback exhaust and while it was nice to hear the exhaust system while cruising around town, long trips became very annoying for the kids, wife, and even myself. I love the fact that you cant hear my B inside, Id prefer to keep it that way.

Header will not add a ton of noise by itself. However, if your looking for engine bay bling a header should be the last thing on your list. Once installed they really can't be seen very well.

Might look into other simple mods like paint, caps, loom, tie-downs, hood dampers, bolt kits ect. Could also add an intake for a little bling and bump in HP.

Cool cool, thx for the input man. I am looking into a CAI, and battery tie down. Im not much on loom because every show you go to in my area, you have that one guy that thinks everything under the sun should have loom on it in every color. Kinda burnt out on it...lol. I would love to get rid of the plastic engine cover but the stock valve pan cover isnt as nice looking as some other vehicles out there. Is there somewhere I can get a different engine cover or do they make a different valve pan cover?

not sure about the engine cover but just an fyi with the cai; they are loud as hell! mine sounds like a jet engine is trying to escape my bonnet every time i get down on the gas. they do look a lot better than the old fashioned plastic intake tube though.

A few companies make carbon fiber engine covers. Can also try to find the one offered by Injen.

@ 05sciko: I appreciate the input on the CAI man, the one on the Honda I just got out of was like that. Its weird how it does that on some cars, and not on others. Maybe i'll just get one and put it on for show weekends.

@ aalbertson3: Seems like I seen that cover somewhere else.....ebay???.....on another xb site....not sure, but I know I've seen it. Seems like any machine shop would be able to duplicate that easily, IMO. Not sure its what Im looking for tho. Thank you for the pic of it however.

One of the worst looking pieces under the hood IMO is the plastic intake tubes. Are you aware if maybe Skunk2 or Injen makes an intake manifold for these motors or not?

I looked into the hood dampers, and I believe Im gonna go ahead and order the polished stainless Password JDM ones beginning of next week. Thanks for the suggestion.

Greddy supercharger replaces the stock intake manifold if you can get your hands on one.
