Hey everybody! This is my first thread and I hope it benefits everyone who is trying to get good, cheap suspension upgrade.
As many of you might know, Raceland (www.racelandus.com (http://www.racelandus.com/)) manufactures coilovers for a few different cars, and they are mostly around $300-$400. I am trying to get them to develop a set for our cars, and that is where I need your help. I am sure they will develop the Coils if there is enough demand, so all I ask is for members to try and contact them about developing this product that all of us can take a great advantage of. Well, this is about it. I will try to post this up on different forums to spread the word. I hope this works out! Thanks for taking the time.:Elephant:

xB1 coils have been "in development" for about a year now with a couple release dates come and gone. There has been a huge amount of anticipation for them from that community. I wouldn't hold out hope.
But that's just my opinion

Ok guys, I sent Raceland and email earlier today and this is what they replied:
"Upper management definitely is considering making the Scion XDs, but their decision process has many variables and demand is just one of them. Of course demand puts the option on the table but the other factors do come into play. We have included your email in the information they will review during the decision process, but please keep in mind - once a decision is made it takes another 8 months for the new product to be released.
Sincerely,
Raceland USA"
I think it is some progress, but I can't do much more than this, so please let's help ourselves and our fellow XD owners out and just show a little interest in this by contacting them. If I have any news I'll be sure to share.

This is the same form letter that the gen 1 owners were getting.... even if you convince them to make them in record time it will not be until next year that you will be able to order them.

Already been mentioned more than once, on more than one forum... Its not happening, they've made that quite clear over the course of the two years that people have been asking about xD coilovers.

If ten xD owners step up and prepay for their order we will offer the same introductory offer we have going on right now for the tC and the gen 1 xB/xA of $680 for 30 way adjustable with camber plate Dare 2B Different Motorwerks Coil Overs.
Have mentioned this in PM to a few xD owners but thought I would throw it in this thread as well.

The top hat on the front strut has a camber plates installed rather than the fixed mount like the OEM strut. You can see it in the photo.

I understand how camber plates work, but they dont work on the xD. we dont have a fixed mounting location for our front struts, our struts float in a limbo on a rubber base, and only have 1 bolt holding a tophat that keeps the strut from falling out.
dont mean to call you out, but is there an actual camber plate for our cars on your system?

Look at your suspension again, the center "bolt" you are referring to is part of the strut itself and located around this you will notice the three bolts that actually hold your strut in position.
Yes camber plates with pillow ball mounts will be on all Dare 2B Different Coil Overs.
Evidently there is a cover hiding the three bolts.

and that strut is not out of an xD.
this is what a regular strut looks like from the xD:
http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/13/l_9dbe0a83e15f4c278c34f6b2f293aca3.jpg
now you'll notice here that there are in fact 2 holes surrounding the top hat, but they dont have bolts in them, from the factory or otherwise, they were in fact, put there so that trd could create a strut tower bar for looks that mounts on those 2 holes.
you'll also notice the tophat, which is only secured by 1 bolt and it creates a slotting like so: }{ where the metal from the strut tower sis inside the slots and cant go too far up (pierce through your hood) or too far down (fall out of the strut tower)
and a picture of the rubber float that the strut stations on:

now that we're done arguing with how well i know my suspension, have you guys found a way to adapt the camber plates to the car or not? if its shaped like the strut below, its not gonna fit unless theres something i dont know about going on here
Edit: just to throw my experiences out there, ive taken the suspension on these cars out 5-6 times, and both times working with coilovers for our cars, including the installation on my car, the front strut is just a shock, spring, and the bottom assembly, and you use the rubber float and the same top hat from your stock suspension to complete the assembly.
sorry this turned from me being interested in a coilover system with front side camber into a pissing match but tons of coilover companies talk about having full adjustment and show generic pictures when you order, then you get it in and its nothing like what you expected. and we dont need people having that problem

I am sorry for my post, I read through these forums while my computer is thinking at work and I was reading the wrong link after helping a coworker with his model.
I totally see what you are saying and will have to remove my camber statement at this time from all of my xD comments. Scionpro would never pull a fast one like I see all of the other companies have after doing the Google search for xD coil over and camber plates.
Do you have photos of the strut tower after removal of the strut? Or does anyone?
PM me the photos and your email so we can research this. I am the first to admit I am not the one who did the research, Steve was told that they the mounts for the xD and that camber plates would be standard on all Scions. I stand corrected and we shall look into this together.
Thank you for pointing it out to me.

No problem, i know that as the sales rep you really just represent the specs presented to you by the factory, and its impossible for you to know without having actually worked on or owned an xD/yaris that our struts are fairly unique (at least as far as i know)
once you're able to sort out the specs on the coils for the xD, you should come back with it. the entry level price is a really good price on coils and can hopefully get some of the guys that cant dump a grand+ on suspension rocking something fresh
i dont have a picture of the inside of the tower itself, but its fairly long and comes to a conical seat where the rubber float seats up.
if you have any questions pitch me a pm and ill help where i can

Yes if you look at the pic you posted with the strut assembly and the plate on top.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3590/3561840241_e158fcda98.jpg
The place where the plate assembly sits between the rubber cone and metal donut are is where the xd tower sits. Basically our strut tower replaces the the plate with the rubber cone underneath in the wheel well and the metal donut on the top under the hood with the nut on top of that holding it all together. I hope that makes sense.

I will put in a request to get the CAD data for the xD strut and strut tower. Maybe with that I can figure some things out.
And yes it did make sense.

Yeah that would be awesome, but make your own headlights!! Its not that hard, and then you've got creative freedom, you can make them look however you want!
