I am not sure if it is a tC only thing, but my tire pressure light keep coming on in my tC. I have 18's w/ 215/35ZR18 tires. I'm sure it makes it more sensitive with the lo pros and lowering springs (H&R sport springs), but anyone else have trouble with this? If so what did you do to fix it, or are you putting up with it?

First off - make sure your tire pressure is correct all around. Check it when the car's cold.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. If the low tire pressure warning light comes on, push and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch (in the glove box) until the warning light turns off and then release the switch.
Now press and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch until the low tire pressure warning light blinks three times.
Initialization is *not* completed until driving at the vehicle speed of 19 mph or over for more than one hour. the tire pressure monitoring starts when initialization is completed.

I'm sorry man, I don't recall if you're 05/06 or 07 ...
but ...
that should just about solve the problem ..
the 05 and 06 tire pressure sensors are tied into the ... ABS system I believe ... and gague tire pressure by rotation speed/count.
So you'll want to check all 4 tires for optimal pressure, before driving.
once you reset it all on a cold car, before eveything expands, even if its not spot on, the reset will recalibrate it to take that measurement as the new correct measurement.
Now if you have an 07, then you have new valve stems that incorporate tire pressure sensors to actually "accuractely" determine pressure. All the same, check that its all right, reset in the glove box, and you should be good.
The reason I bring this up is because there have been some isolated issues w/ the sensors on the 07 benig fugged up bc the valve stem is a bit larger than typical stems, so the fitment isnt right, could have been damaged upon isntall, or create other issues. At that point, its a call into Toyota to inquire, then take in if necessary. Other than that, the 05/06 system is essencially a "stupid" system, in that it doesnt actually know or care what your tire pressure is, as long as it rides right, and the reset should pretty fix anything.

Its an '06, first off, and I constantly check my tire pressure because of this. There is a lot of construction on the main Highway right now and I do not want to damage my rims, or car. But this is pissing me off, because I had it in and they showed me the reset and the steps to do, but they said it just happens with "big rims" . I am sorry but I do not think that 18" is big, maybe its just the tires, since 2 are newer than the others. Has anyone else had their light come on in hard corners or anything like this or am I alone here?

I had this problem when I lowered my car... so did my friend. I found that pressing the reset button in the glove box wouldn't work....so I disconnected the battery and reconnected it. It hasn't been an issue since. Resetting the ECU would probably work too.

Also... i think you're running the wrong size tires too.... with 18's you should be running a 215/40, not 215/35.....
Stock size for the 17's is 215/45.... upping a wheel size goes to 215/40...

I'll try unhooking the battery and see what happens. As for the tire size, yeah they're a little small but for the price ($700 for wheels and tires) I can't complain. I actually plan on selling them, cause I think they're a little european for the car (they were off of a Jetta anyways :pilot: ).

I had problems when going with a smaller profile tire on stock rims. I reset mine by something I saw on another site and so, far so good! It was the same thing as an earlier post with one difference. You start the car, hold the reset button until it goes off, then you hold it again until it starts blinking a couple of times, then you must drive for at least 10 miles. This worked for me after I had the dealer do it and it came on later that day. Resetting the ECU should work too though...
