Hey guys!
Would like to thank all of you for coming out to the event! Thanks to those who helped us out getting the cars in the building and such.
So did yall have a good time?
What did you think about everything else?
It seems that we were considerably low on numbers, especially our VWs.
The VW folks weren't to happy with the event, some of it had to do with the Coliseum while the others didn't like the Imports in there, which included yall.
So yall just tell me what you think. Pretty Please

Not sure why they did not like us being there. The show was for fund raising and my view point would be the more the merrier. Not talking bad about the VW people but damn what is a car show without variety? That is just my thoughts on that. Other than that I had a great time looking at everyones cars. It was nice getting to see everyone's creativity.

i liked the show somewhat.. was no where near as good as the 06,07,08 shows i went to.. i didnt go to the 09,10... but considering imports are VW's too.. so if they dont like imports they are not liking thereself... i like the show a lot better when you had bagged trucks, hondas, mitsubishi, fords, nissans, chevy's etc... i like anything with creativness.. I grew up in hondas.. i have had 9 hondas of my own... if i had the money i would also have a k20 swapped ek hatch... but im not made of money.. but all in all i had fun but the turn out was no where near as i have seen..

Well, they all think that we are going to turn it over and make it an import show and kinda push them out. This happened about 10 years or so ago at Farmington Dragway, and it REALLY left a bad taste in everyones mouth, so that is really where that is coming from. There are not ANY VW show on the East Coast that is mixed, unless of course it is a mixed car event. In that cause there are only a few that will show to that and there wouldn't be any VW Specific only vendors there either.
We are not sure what is going to happen next year, but I have a feeling the way I talked to the main promoter at the end of the event he is going to want the imports to come and help fill up that section.
We got to figure out the ins and outs of what we are going to do that the May 22nd show at Piedmont Dragway, since we will be having the Scions on one side of the track and VWs the other. I really thought that they would like it, but it has been non-stop on a forum, emails and even a letter in the mail today. But then, alot of it has to do with all the COliseum mess too!
I agree on the turnout! Don't know what happened there. We had a lot of Spectators though. I do know that some of the VW folks were saying they didn't put theirs in the show, becuase they wanted to leave when they wanted to. Which they don't have to worry about at the other events.

i totally understand where you are coming from.. but i dont see why they car biased and like only there kind. if thats the case and they were the only cars there it woul have been like 50 cars or so and they would probably run there own self out.. if you had any cars there... meaning imports, domestics, etc etc you would have had a much better turn out.. i knew every honda person there and they were kinda pissed and mad because the show had been being what ya want for so many years and they get kicked out this year.. just my 2 cents

Yeah we would have been really empty! 2 years ago we were in the bigger side next door(where the skating rink was) and we had it packed! Last year, we all know it snowed, but we also moved it to Friday/Sat which is something that Keith and I really didn't want to do in the first place.
As for the import show, that was done by the main promoter and I guess they just got tired of doing it. Maybe because they work so hard on the Hot Rod show, when they get to Sunday they just wanted it to be over. He told me last year after the show that he was planning not to do an import show anymore and it would just be us on Sunday.
There is just some major stuff that happened with all the Coliseum folks, that put a negative feel since they encountered it first. And for them not to know what the hell is going on in their on facility? I mean geeze?

Just in my opinion there are other arenas/coliseums around that a car show could be held in. If car owners aren't happy with the way things went down then maybe look into doing this show in a different place next time. I personally liked the variety, and I agree there wasn't a very great turn out with the VWs. Is the Piedmont Dragway show going to be more than one day or what, I would like some more info on it please.

I was VW guy and I left the VW crowd because they are very close minded. only the Air-cooled guys were real car guys. Most H2O guys are hipsters or only car about slammed on their nuts cars with tons of poke and stretch. I got crap cause I wasn't low enough and I didn't spend 2g's on my wheels. I fealt like an outcast.

We have already talked about another place that we can do something that maybe will not cost as much for everyone and will be easier to get into, hance not have that parking lot fee.
As for Piedmont Dragway event, the date is May 22, although we just started planning this last weekend. So I am still working on getting stuff together. Right now we are going to contact Cox Toyota/Scion to see if they are interested in doing something on that Saturday afternoon and then Sunday will be at the track. There is a nice grassy area on the otherside of the track just for you guys. It will be a full car show and would like yall to bring stuff you are not using for Sale too. Even trying to get something together for some track action too. The big side of the dragway will be the VW Event, which we have had there for 6 years.
Yeah VW people are all totally different! Some don't want the watercooled crowd there, others are just there for the swap, or show or drag. I hear all sorts of things. We are trying to get more of the watercooled crowd out to the events as well, since these guys are the next generation of enthusiasts and if we don't look ahead, then we might not be here anymore to do these events for everyone.
I just know one thing, I always ask for feedback and hardly never get it. But something goes wrong that is out of our control and the shit hits the FAN! I even got a letter in the mail yesterday about how they were disappointed, didn't even have a return address on it.

Update.....we aren't going to do something at the track on May 22nd. But we are going to try and do something at Cox Toyota/Scion on Sat the 21st. Already talked to Lamar, so now I am waiting on a call back from the dealership.
Oh and who is going to Exposed in Jacksonville in a few weeks? We are! I can't wait, although I don't have a Scion anymore, but will be in one all weekend!

anything outside of NC is no go for my budget and weekends are not good. Good luck with Cox cause working Saturday. last dealership show we did at Rice only had 4 cars so hope they push it hard. I had fun at gboro and sorry they feel that way...

I think when it comes to all of the grousing you are hearing it is probably the loud minority. I work with one of the VW guys who showed and he really enjoyed the variety.
I heard a mixed bag from the VW folks as they looked at the Scions. I think there was more confusion regarding the Scions than hating on them. I did here some hating, but it is easy to hate what you don't understand.
What made it more enjoyable for me was that I had my coworker walk around the VWs with me and help me understand the classes and what was special about this car vs that one. I returned the favor in the Scions.
I think everyone would have enjoyed it if they let themselves.
