I am going to start my sub box in the next few weeks. I don't want to mount it to the box, or to the back of the seat. Is there anywhere else you guys are putting the amp?

Under the front seats is the easiest. That is where I have both of mine!
We tried the kicker all in one amp but it was too big to fit anywhere without major mods. Just remove the jack from the front seat.

for space yea it would be easiest but its a poor place for air circulation. if u do chose this method i highly recommend u mount it with spacers elevating it off the floor just enough to get some flow.

does anyone know of an access hole in the firewall (2008 XD) for my amp wire or do I need to drill my own? Thanks for any help.

there is what appears to be an air vent under the front seats, therefor airflow shouldnt be a problem if you use a/c

Tom, I was out looking this weekend. I can't seem to find an access hole as well. There has to be somrthing. Anyone else know where to pull the wire through?

I ran my wire through the firewall on the drivers side. There is a large gromment with a bunch of wires coming through there right behind the battery. The gromment is large enough to run more wires through it.

mine is under the passenger seat... had to swap amps out, the other one i had was about an inch too wide, so i put in a smaller amp, which i'm glad, cause it hits even harder... air circulation is for huge amps, for the newer, small amps, you can put them next to the spare tire and you'll be fine...

Well yes and no. The amps are electronic and so they can overheat so if you do put it in somewhat enclosed spaces you want to add fans. They don't overheat as bad as the older ones but they can still overheat. Those don't cost that much though so not a big deal. Under the seats are fine because you can just put part of ac to floor. Just remember that as it reaches above eighty degrees to make sure you use ac so you don't burn up your system.

This amp was in a truck for 3+ years. So I don't think inside my car in the A/C will hurt it to bad. :) I am getting older now, so I don't push them like I did back in the old days.

you'll be fine... 90+ degrees outside, 100+ in the car, never had a problem, never ran AC to the floor for the amp...

Buddy of mine built this one out of 2 1/2" tubing for support and the amps are mounted to plexiglass thats frosted on the edges to side light with led's.
Mount them to plexi and light it up, it's so,so cool!
I've got a few pics of some plexi mounting of amps and various other things with lit up plexi. Let me know if you want to look at more!

I know that the ceiling would be awesome!
As for the thing with heat, humidity and amps...
If you live in an area with dry heat, your amps will be okay, but if you are in a humid area and the interior of the car hits a buck +, you will start to overheat the amps as most have only heat sinks to take away the heat. Trust me that I know first hand what happens when the meltdown occurs.
As for under the seat, that is the option we went with.
