i was talkin with Daivid from the N. texas chapter and he said he was having the same problem. When i turn the screens on they flash on and off then go dead. now i know im not the only one, so i was wondering who else? i checked "the other scion site" and found a thread about it. so i just was wondering what i could do about it?
also we where talkin about on the window sticker it says an alpine system. The only alpine thing is the head unit, the door speakers are stock and the screens are visulagic (sp?)

mine started this about a month ago , they will either shut off shortly after being turned on , or the Left ( Drivers seat ) one will flicker , they so far will turn back on but only for a short time then back off , if i just run one either R or L the problem doesnt exsist as of yet ..
I was SHOCKED  to find out we only got an Alpine head unit and the other parts are Crap .. Scion Doesnt even know were the video controllers were
made or who the manufacture is :x: :x:
I have heard there are atleast 6+ other cases of this also ..
I will be calling Scion Corporation and filing a complaint on Monday ..

Aside from trying to get it fixed through your local dealers as a warranty item which often is just  , filing a complaint with Scion is the best route. Enough complaints shouls get a bulletin generated once the problem is diagnosed and could eventually result in a voluntary recall. So don't stop bringing it to peoples attention and spread the word ..
Laterz..

The Dealers have 0 info on the system as it was port installed and half think we added it in ..
a complaint to Scion from every owner having the problem will be the best bet ....

I hate to burst your bubble, but This got me thinking and I went and grabbed my window sticker from my 06 BSP and it says "Pioneer sound system" when rather I just have the headunit and the speakers are the P.O.S. kind
My monitors have worked perfectly so far and they are used alot since I have been on mutliple road trips with kids and they watched them the whole time... I hope this doesnt happen to mine... The only thing they complained about was sometimes they got static in there headphones...

I have not had this problem yet on mine. Mine are used alot.
And mine has Alpine speakers in the dash but that is it. The
rest of them are the crapy ones. Which that ate me up when i
found that out. And i hope none of that stuff happens to mine.
So i say go after them :censored:

We have had one of these come in here. What needs to be done is an exchange on the monitor itself. The dealership needs to call visualogic for an exchange part. This is all done at no cost to the owner. So take them in and have them fixed. If they have any questions give them my number and I can give them a hand with it. Wilson Toyota 1-515-232-4081 just ask for steve in parts.

well there is nothing wrong with my monitors , its the Audio Visual Module that controlls them which is faulty ..
its very rare that 2 Monitors would go out at the same time and besides that if i only run 1 monitor at a time ( it doesnt matter which one )
it will play all night without a hitch , that preety much say the monitor is ok .
when you play both the AV module get overheated and shuts down the monitors , my car is at the dealer as i type they replaced the module
and have been letting it play all morning it doing great so far ..
i'll post up more tonight when i get it back along with the part # for the replacement .

well i just got mine back tonight they said they had to order it. so i have to take it back
and i also told them that my car sat at the port for 2 weeks or something like that
tring to get this same problem fixed. they said they replaced the monitors 4 times before
they worked right. but i can play one all night it is just when i turn both on they go blah
and where is the mod. at so i can try to look at it be 4 they replace it

and besides that if i only run 1 monitor at a time ( it doesnt matter which one )

This is the exact problem I am having. If I run 2 monitors at the same time then they both shut off. One buy itself and it will run forever.
I haven't got a chance to take it into the dealership yet. If get a part number on the module let me know. this will make it much easier when I take it in to the dealership

The module is located behind the glove box on the right kick panel , its held on with one 12mm bolt that secures the dash frame
there are two boxes mounted together , its the farthest one of the 2 .. the first one is a voltage stablizer .
The part came from
TMI Products inc
1493 Bentley dr
Corona , California 92879
1-800-624-7960 ext 149 or 170
Part # is PTS34-52060-AV AV Control module , the dealer can order it exchanged ..
The dealer can look up
Toyota warrenty Procedure bulliten
no. PRO06-12
this covers all the RS 3 av system ..

Yeah My screens are working fine for road trips but the static seems to bother my passengers. I don't have a screen upfront yet so the dude upfront had a laptop plugged into my power inverter and was watching movies upfront LOL. I hope my screen in the back don't go out.

Mine were having the same issue everyone else was having, then it got worse, They just turned off and I haven't been able to get them to turn on, So I took it to a scion dealer in amarillo to get it looked at, and they said the dvd player is out and they have to order a new one (and on top of that, my car got robbed while they had my car, which they cut me a check for my losses). I didn't have time to leave my car in amarillo, so I am still without screens. Am planning on leaving my car at hudiburg in okc the weekend after next while I go play death metal in virginia for a few days. Thanks for posting up the info, dealerships are all so clueless.
Also, I have my window sticker, and I know it said they were supposed to be alpine speakers "tuned" to the system, but really scion audio is shite. If they didn't put alpine speakers in there, heads will roll. That is class action lawsuit time. Did they really do us that dirty? I haven't had my door panels off yet to get a look-see.

If any of you RS 3 owners want to sell your headrest monitors and controllers so you won't have to deal with this issue, please let me know.
I would love to help you out.

My Tvs finally took a crap and stopped working this weekend at a car show. Went out while I was playing Forza....lol
Took the info on here to the dealer and they replaced the module under warranty. So far so good.

Nope. I just told them I didnt want the tech to touch my car without seeing me. Luckily the monitors went out in front of the guy. So he knew the problem was legit.
