Full exhaust or catback will free up some ponies

NST pulleys and Ingall's Stiffy engine dampener help out a lot. Also, its not performance, but Killerglass really adds a "wow" factor when you open your hood.

I have an auto and recently added an OBX header and S pipe. I had Injen CAI, Unorthodox racing pulley, a torque dampner from Ingalls and Greddy Cat back its a little raspy when I stomp on it but I ordered a silencer to help with it. I love it. Its a lot more responsive and all of it is easy to install so its pretty nice.

A stock auto trans will hold up to around 250horsepower before it starts having slippage issues. Just throw a transmission cooler on it and you'll be fine running a turbo.

that big i would thing youd gain some back by putting a smaller one on there....
but yea, boost is a viable option. basically most anything you can do on the manual except the tranny stuff, like LSD
either turbo or supercharger will work, granted manual will make more power with the same things of course.

This is when it was a ZPI stage 0
Now I added the intercooler and some other stuff just need some managment and it should be just about a full stage 1 kit!!

I have an emanage blue with the ignition and injector harness, as well as the tuning software - I paid almost $600 for everything, but I'm selling it for $300. If you want it - lemme know.

im running an auto NBM 07 tc and have though about turbo in about a year or so. (saving the money) i knew you need to do work on the tranny but i only need a cooler. crap thats easy. i was told by a few people i had to send the tranny off to have internal work done. i really want the tranny to handle something like 500hp, i may need to see if there is a stall converter for this tranny.
does anyone know about doing an sequential tranny swap from a gen 2 XB to a tc?

if your wanting that much HP then yes you are gonna need to build up the auto tranny.

dezod makes a kit for the 08 tc with an auto tranny. It comes with a trans cooler and other things specifically for the auto tc. thats the kit im going to get

for the auto, you definitely need a tranny cooler, or you'll end up swapping the tranny a lot sooner than expected. The auto trans starts to fail around 250hp. It's not built to handle it. You can also talk to level10, because I believe they make a rebuild for the AT...and level10 makes some great shit.
as far as turbo, it depends on what you want to do - if you want a quick 1/4mile time, you want to go a little bigger (like a .6 or .63 a/r turbo - dezod and turbonetics) - if you want to autocross and need hard low-end power, you want to go smaller, like a 16g (zpi) or even an 18g (greddy). ZPI doesn't exist anymore, so you'll have to buy the kit used...or you can talk to turbochargers.com (where Kenny works now) and see if they can build you a zpi-style kit.
Before you buy ANYTHING, make sure you can find a local shop that will tune your car (find out what fuel management units they can tune, and how much they charge) - otherwise you'll end up like I did, and run for 10 months with no tune, and blow out the turbo. Even if the kit comes with pre-tuned fuel management, having a local shop is handy in case you want to up the boost and retune. It's something I highly recommend.

So does dezod have a website we can go check them out at? I'm thinking of a turbo for my auto tC as well in the future. I need more oof, ya know? I want it to reach a higher speed more quickly. I was messing around with an EVO and I could catch up EVENTUALLY, but he beat me out of the blocks for a good two city blocks before I caught back up.
Thanks for the info!

Now in this sense, boosted just means the turbo right? Not nitrus...
Also, quick question, if you put a turbo on an auto tC, will you get that turbo sound when the engine changes gears?
2dot4
07-12-2008, 02:08 PM
yeah, if you have a BOV, you will get the whoosh, but it's less dramatic on an AT.
What do you have done to your tC? Keeping up with an EVO is a task - when I was boosted, it was still a struggle, and I was only ~10whp less than a stock evo.
and try dezodwest.com
Aurora
07-12-2008, 02:24 PM
Ok, so I'll have to get a BOV? That is that exactly? As long as it has that "woosh" sound, that'd be sick.
I have no performance mods on my tC. I'm running stock factory. The EVO was a friend of mine so we weren't like seriously racing, but that light turned green and its like I was standing still! haha
He says he wasn't going easy on me when I caught up, but I don't believe em.

The BOV actually doesn't go off when changing gears. Only when you let off the gas.

so i finally got my obx headers with down pipe... got that on sunday...now today (monday) while i was driving my chek engine light comes up... is it one of my O2 sensors ?.... (trust is not the gas cap)....any one came up with this prob .... my car is 08 with 10k miles on it(and yes thats a lot of miles for an 08 but i got it in nov...and i love driving it)... any help peepz

its most likely the 02 sensor code. you have to add antifoulers to get rid of it

where can i get some.... and until i do is it bad to have the CEL on?
tcchris38
07-16-2008, 03:06 PM
You can get them at any auto part store. Get 2 youll probly need both to get the o2 sensor far enough so the CEL wont come on. I had mine one for a week or two a while back with no problems.

heres a write up on how to use 2 spark plug antfoulers to more the 02-sensor away from the pipe and should clear things up.

Like the man said, nothing made for the tC can really be jdm since it doesn't exist as a buyable vehicle over there. USDM Only! Lol
You get what you pay for, and you aint buying much at the price listed there.
I'd say keep away from it. And anything else they combine tC and JDM with.

Aurora

I don't think it will. But to tie this into the pervious item discussed, you won't need any headers, or cold air if you go turbo. And if you go turbo, you have to get a turbo exhaust or you'll lose pressure.

Any exhaust system works for turbos! you dont have to get a turbo exhaust. as far as pressure goes, you wont loose pressure. Youre pressure is in front of the turbo not behind it! Back pressure only really relates to N/A cars because turbo cars have none other than, turbos, to create pressure! Turbo exhaust as apposed to stock or an N/A exhaust will help bring the sound level up a bit as well as give it a little bit different sound. the N/A exhaust systems need more resonators and mufflers to keep it quiet, otherwise you sound like a HONDA! Do you need headers, yes... the better flowing exhaust manifold will help spool the turbo faster equaling less turbo lag. Intake... ehh... not so much but most of the intakes for the tC are two piece and go into the front facia so keeping that piece with the turbo intake tube will be better!
sorry so long but i just wanted to add my two sence. LOL!

You said its not a race car right or at least you arent trying to make it one. I wouldnt even mess with forced induction ( turbo or supercharge). If you want some extra ponies then get some nitrous. Use it when you want and boom 50, 100, 150 etc hp at the press of a button, only thing is that its it very violent and can easily blow and engine with repeated uncontrolled use. Alot of times the kits will come with some for of engine management so detonation doesnt occur and your engine goes by by. As far as naturally aspirated goes anything can be done. Intake, throttle bodie(s), machine work, machine work, machine work, camshafts, valves, valve springs, header, full exhaust and tuning tuning tuning. with tuning you will get much better gains with bolt ons and machine work then with just slapping the shit on. Regardless, unless you got the funds to back it up dont get out of control with it. Keep it simple and there is less shit that will go wrong with it, basic rule of auto mechanics. If you dont know much about it then do the research if you want to turbocharge then do it right. beesandgoats.com click turbo guide on the left hand side and read. then go to homemadeturbo.com been a memeber there for 5 years and im still learning.

lose the 5" exhaust tip. Get a header and do a full exhaust system using 2 1/2" pipe all the way out to the end. Put a flowmaster 60 series in there for a good sound with a nice flow through cat.
Like stated above if you're looking to go turbo you'll need to beef up that tranny.
edit: just saw you did the exhaust. Garrets are great turbos. You're going to need larger fuel injectors as well on top of the turbo kit.

Dont know how true that is with it being a full stage 1 kit. If you are going to run that setup you better get bigger injectors.
As far as the trans goes I wouldnt go over 220-230WHP with just a trans cooler. Any higher numbers than that you better get a valve body upgrade.
