So I got a quote today from a local shop for air for the box. Check this out and those that know....tell me if you think this is a decent price or would I still be better off buying the parts and doing it myself.

Firestone bags
Goodyear lines
front - back - side to side
2 chrome plated compressors
1 polished aluminum tank
all fittings and valves
installation
-------------------------
$2500.00 and takes two days

unless your gonna sit at a show and play with the bags for 30 minutes at a tme you dont need 2 compressors... one will be just fine, and how bg is that tank.. also, go with 3/8 valves not 1/2, and use 3/8 line, dont use compression, the push connect fittings are good enough...

The lines/valves are all 3/8" (compression fittings).......... the tank is a 3 gallon ....... and the compressors are Viair.

get the model number for the compressors and you dont need compression, you can save some coin with ust the simple push connects

My 2 cents.
2 compressors on a 3 gallon tank not good. You will always have air but your tank will always be empty...

You are on the right track. I am running 2 2gallon tanks (4 gallons) and it take about 5 7 minutes from completely unaired, lines and all to tank full and bags full.

Few helpful hints. This is all personal oppinion. If you are doing straight show, put your valves close to the bags, the more air you can hold in your lines, the more air you can play with in your bags.
2500's will fit the xb but 2600's will put you higher(i like dancing the back i am gay)

If you are going to drive it every day try to keep the valves out of the element even though they are all weather purpose.

Note to self if you are not in a hurry to build your set, take your time go to some lowrider shows bags, tanks and compressors are always on sail for hella deals. Like blooddragzz and slamfest in florida, i saw firstone 2500 for 50 for both bags. Hope that helps a little.

Last but not least if you can do your spring change from stockies to aftermarket you can install your own bags....

ps 2500$ is about 1500$ too much to put air on your box. just letting you know. i did it for under 1000$

yeah you can do it yourself for about $1000 but for a shop to do it $2500 is pretty good for install and parts. just make sure the shop knows what they're doing and are going to warranty it. as far as mounting the valves away from the bag i don't really see the thought behind that. I always mount them as close to the bag as possible. but i play with mine like i'm at a show anyway but i guess like you said personal opinion

I spent 1200 on my setup.

Viair 450C Compressor-$199.95
5 Gallon Tank-$54.99
SMC Valves (fill)3/8-$29.95x2
SMC Valves (dump) 1/4-$29.95
Water Trap-$24.95
Slam Specialties Rear Bags-$75.00
Easy Street Fronts-$507.00
Gauge(which still isnt hooked up..)$28.95
FBI Mini rear bracket-99.99
All the fittings...around $100-120
50' Air Line-$25

I had a coupon for money off at one of the sites. Id do the install yourself. Its not that hard and youll be happy you know how it all works when something goes wrong.

if you cant drag and you cant hit sides it isnt worth bagging

that may be true but im not about to pay for new cv joints or a new airdamn just to do sides. its cool but i know how i was with s-10 daily dragger. its too tempting to just drag the piss out of it and rip something off.

with what i put my car through during the ;time it was bagged, i had no incidents, and it went a year of constant abuse, because if im gonna build something, im going to try to break it, so that i can sort out the weak points...

arent you wasting a lot of air filling the lines before you even get to fill the bags? youre compressor would be running a lot more right. will valves shit out if its a daily driver and they're out near the bags?

i did it for under 1000$

under 1000!?! damn how did you do that? the front strut bags are like 500 alone!

I have had my air ride for 2 years never had any problems, except for a sylinoid going bad, but that was the landscapers fault. Yes i do waste a lot of air going to the front bags with the valves in the back, but the back bags are instant because of the placement. It is just one of those choices you make. Gots to sort your options. And that was my personal choice but there are many ways to do it, and everybody has there "way" so to speak.

Most valves will not poop out on you or sieze unless something wierd malfuntions, i have never had a problem at all, but valves have been known to sieze. Bags also blow, compressors blow, fuses fry, Another words no matter how well or nice your setup is, there is always a chance of a problem, to many things are working against you. But the right up keep, and care can help your % up of keeping things from breaking, wearing, or what have you..
And mine is a Daily driver...

sounds good. so you mounted the fill valves inside, but what about the dump valves? are they right by the bags?

Crab o' nasty
07-24-2008, 11:19 AM
nope dump is right next to the fill valves like in a T style fasion.... now because i am using 1/2 in hosing 1/4 inside they actually fill and dump very very very fast. If i were smart i would put a tap in the valve that releases air through the dump slower, but i like making it dance.

oh i gotcha. im dumb. for some reason i had it in my mind that i needed two port bags. one fill line/with valve. and one dump line/with valve.

obviously i can just run one line to each bag. set up the fill and dump valve side by side... de da deee

so i was gonna do the 08 xb easy street kit they have for $2600 thats digital and with no instal, from what i have read previously that is almost triple what you guys seem to be paying, i simply want air bags cause of the area i live in, i drag on everything and im stock! i want to be able to raise my ride a good ffew inches so i wont drag then when i park, just drop it. so i have no clue how any of this works but i am dying to get my hands dirty and learn, can anyone help me out? what do i need? where do i get it? what will it cost me?

Crab o' nasty
07-27-2008, 01:43 PM
Now i am not 100% positive on what is actually needed, but there are a few things you have to buy that are nec. for your make and model, 1 your front struts, 2 brackets for rear bags,

then lines, valves, fittings, tank, compressor, gauge, preasure switch, sylinoid, a little electrical wire, and some type of switches...

Any questions feel free to ask, it is easier for me to post what you need then do Q and A on any particular things you need help with..

As for 2 grand before install that is a little pricey, but then again i haven't done my research on an 08 xb to know the prices on the front strut bags and back brackets...

who should i get all this from? how much would it cost me?

baggedbox
12-16-2008, 04:52 PM
it all depends on what fittings there running, and valves. and make sure and check to see if they do shotty work, cuz u will run in to crappy welds and plumbing which could cost around 56 dollars an hour 2 fix. i charge 3000 with a daily drivin front back set up, on 2 thomas compressors, smc 1/2 valves, and conitech 2500 bags in the rear and air struts in the front. all guaranteed
