If I may add, I'm planning on doing a tranny swap to my XB2 and boosting it. I have a friend that's trading in his TC so, he's selling me his turbo on the low low.

Hey, just curious, how much would a beefy auto tranny run?

Too much haha its not worth it. Plus the parts are unreliable I finally came to the conclusion to swap. Its going to cost close to 2k basically to swap it with a stage 2 clutch and flywheel so doubling the price and lsd to add another grand but then your almost bullet proof in your tranny.

I wouldn't say "bullet proof", but you will be in much better shape than trying to get higher horsepower on an auto. I hope you document the swap well and post up plenty of pictures. This thread has the potential to be a good sticky when people ask what it takes to swap the auto for a manual.

Well pretty much what I meant but you would really have to try to break that tranny more so than anything else. I just wanted to prove that a swap is going to be cheaper then selling my car and buying a manual.

Heres a pic of the car

My guess would be a junkyard. You should be able to go to one and find a manual tC to pull parts off seeing that the car is now 5-6 years old.

I have a greddy only cause I paid 1500 for it brand new with the injectors and emanage ultimate but I actually really like it I just tacked a hks ssqv bov on

You didnt need the axle, but oh well doesnt sound like you spent much on it :) Heres the rundown of where I got my stuff from...

Tranny - Junkyard - $275 shipped - only 25,000 miles on it :)
Pedals (clutch+brake), shifter, linkage, clutch master, clutch slave - another junkyard - $200 shipped
Clutch hydraulic lines, rear and drive side mounts - Toyota - $95 shipped
Stainless flex clutch line - ebay - $20 shipped
Flywheel - Another Junkyard - $45 shipped + $25 to machine
Clutch - Custom twin from ACT - $1450

Sooooo my whole tranny swap was really only like $660, but than I spent $1450 on a clutch - so it was a little over 2k total :P - Sorry I didnt take pics or do a writeup on mine, the only really difficult part was installing the clutch pedal. I had to make a template for the holes to drill in the firewall than find a way to also run bolts through into one of the top bars in the dash to secure the top of the pedal - that part was def not fun, and I prob shouldve just pulled the whole dash lol

Oh and Ive experienced a couple weird issues with the Auto ECU, but Im still not 100% if its my tune or the ecu. So Id really recommend dropping the extra $150 ish for a manual ecu and harness :) When I get done with built motor # 2 (Thanks to a big ass piece of rebar) I plan on also going to a manual harness and ecu, to go along with my switch to the Eman Ultimate - so I guess Ill never know :P

Yahh 100% sure getting the manual ecu and the engine harness. Every part that should be in the manual tC im putting in mine for when I go to sell it in a few years I shouldnt have a problem. I got the shifter and shift linkage for 20 bucks and then the slave cylinder and master cylinder for 30 bucks.

Sorry I dont check this enough I'm running 7psi its 80 whp over stock basically and my tranny is fine but I just want more power. Just run a tranny cooler and a better ATF fluid I have a B&M and royal purple in my transmission it made the world of difference.

so 80 over stock auto is about 205whp. thats if you had the avg. 125whp to start with. sadly there are N/A tc s on here with 200whp lol. did you get a dyno at all?

Dynod at PTuning its a low boost setting, and a boosted auto tC aka mine is still spanking v8 mustangs up to 2004. Walking civic si's (all years) I haven't had an n/a tC beat me yet or even come close lol (even ppl with maual ones claiming 260hp)..... Putting cars on them at half throttle (auto or manual). Every dyno is going to be giving different numbers, dynopack (garbage), dynojet, mustangdyno, dyno dynamics. PTunings dyno is an full enclosed dyno equipped with a Dyno Dynamics AWD dyno good up to 2400 whp. A stock auto tC put down 122 there and mine put just over 200. Even a TRD supercharged 5 speed tC with a meth injection kit and a smaller pullet and full 3in ptuning exhaust put 199.* there couldnt break 200. Its a very low run dyno so what I put there is a lot lower then else where. Im having fun with the auto I can brake loose all through first second and chirp into third. Its been fun but I really want more power.

if you plan on going for big numbers, either fork out the money for the ptuning gear set, or figure out something for beefing up the tranny. At 500whp+ the tranny becomes very unreliable. I have a pile of blown up E350's and E351's as a testament to that :)

I have a built transmission by tpr with a quaife lsd good for 550whp? ✈Even PTuning breaks transmission round that because there is no built parts for the transmissions. ✈Im not going for that crazy hp I just want to be round 350 on the PTuning dyno.

How much did it cost you for the whole turbo kit and other misc. Parts u upgraded? Im planning to go turbo im just wondering how much will it cost for everything plus the installation tune and dyno.. And what turbo kit is good for around 250-300ish hp?

Just get a ptuning kit with the upgraded exhaust. ✈I got a greddy kit brand new with the piggyback ecu and injectors for 1500 so thats why I have it its good for around that hp range. It cost me like $4000 cuz I changed a few different things fuel rail, turbo timer, gauges, oil cooler, tranny cooler and the tune was $550 from ptuning. Now im doing a manual swap and upgrading parts ive put prob like 10 into it.

Hey Miller serious question here. We swapped out my clutch and flywheel a couple months ago in my xB2, but it didn't have a pilot bearing in the flywheel when we pulled it apart, so we put it all back together without the included pilot bearing that was with my new clutch. Did your tC have a factory pilot bearing? My car is fine. Driven several thousand miles so far like this, I would just like to know if it's supposed to be in there or not. Please reply!!! Thanks!
