I haven't seen a DIY for an oil change on a 1st gen yet, so I figured I'd get the party started!! :)
TOOLS NEEDED
- 1st gen xB
- MAINT REQD flashing light upon starting your car
The first thing that should clue you in to having your oil changed is the MAINT REQD light that flashes when you start your car:

I know we all keep our mielage / service work in order; be sure to check your paperwork to be sure it's certain that this procedure needs to be done. Check when the last time your oil has been changed:

Remember - 3 months or 3,000 miles - check your current mielage (looks like I'm due):

Now that we know your ride is in need of this maintennance drive to your local Scion dealership's 'Express Lube' service bay. You should be greeted by a friendly service advisor:

The service advisor will ask for your key so they can pull your car in to the service bay (this is where the magic happens):

While your car is being worked on you can chill in the waiting room on the plush leather couches....watch some TV..... or you can hang in the Scion 'lounge', which offers free WiFi so you can browse your favorite websites on your laptop:

It's a good habit to check on your ride at least once. The service tech may have a question or two for you. For example how they can join the local Scikotics chapter, what engine mods you have; they will even check tire pressures and adjust them to best match what your tires are rated for:

When your ride is finished you will hear a page over the in-store paging system letting you know that your car is ready for pickup. Remember to ALWAYS shake the hand of the service advisor that gives you your keys back and thank them for a job well done:

THAT'S IT!!!! Your oil has been successfully changed - be sure to update your paperwork (as seen above) with the date your oil has been changed, along with the current mielage.
REMEMBER - it's a good habit to do this procedure once every 3 months or 3000 miles (whichever comes first). Keeping up with normal maintennance will keep your ride in good working order!!! :)
