I baught a custom turbo kit from a scikotics member. I just got everything today. It came with greddy emanage blue. I was thinking of running everything from a laptop instead of having all the gauges.

What do you guys think?

Does anyone know of any software i can use?

I am not really that familiar with the Emanage. I got one with my kit and sold it for an AEM F/IC. With the Greddy unit, I think you have to buy the support tool (around $120) to be able to tune with it and I am not sure if it has gauges. You will also need to get the manifold pressure sensor so you can tune with boost and so the laptop can read boost pressure.

The F/IC comes with software that shows gauges and also comes with a built in manifold pressure sensor. Take a look at Dezod's comparison of the Emanage vs. the F/IC: http://www.dezod.com/files/FICvsEMAN.pdf . Personally, I would recommend selling the Emanage and getting the AEM unit, but that's just my opinion.

You still need gauges. The emanage blue will only have the emanage software, which, while you can get the constant data stream, it's a pain in the butt to read. Get the gauges.

Then wait. DO NOT go cheap on a turbo. If you want to save money and not run gauges, it will end up costing you a lot more in the long run. A buddy of mine turboed his car and wasn't running gauges. Needless to say, he had to buy a new engine. I can understand wanting to get it put on. Mine sat in the garage all winter taunting me, but I waited until I had everything I needed. Even then, there were things I had forgotten and had to go out and buy. Going F/I is not cheap. I just don't want to see a post in a few weeks saying you blew your engine. A little patience will pay off in the long run. Trust me.

tony said it well. even tho the emanage has data stream, it wont monotor egt's, or oil pressure, or other important vitals. if you run a turbo, i think you HAVE to have gauges otherwise you wont know if somethinga wrong intil its to late.

This is what happens when you don't have gauges to tell you what is going on in your car: http://www.scikotics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24491

Everyone that is considering going turbo, I always tell them, make sure they have everything they need and extra money before doing it. If you rush it, you will have problems. Murphy's Law is extremely prevelant in aftermarket F/I applications. It isn't if something will go wrong, its when. You need to be prepared both financially and in your knowledge of how the entire system works.

Also what gauges are needed? boost, a/f ratio, oil pressure? are those the most important? Im new to F/I and want to do it right

I know you are going through CS.com, but I absolutely love my Stewart Warner gauges. I did my research and these guys make a great product. I run Stewart Warner boost/vac, oil pressure, and exhaust gas temperature gauges along with an AEM UEGO wideband air/fuel gauge.

If you are new to boost, I would suggest going over to ScionLife and reading all of the stickeys in the tC Forced Induction forum. I spent hours upon hours reading threads. There is even a thread of what gauges you should run that may help you out.
