I have started to put together a supercharger system for my xB with a tight budget in mind. My goal here is to boost my toaster for under $500.

How am I going to do this?

Well I have been talking with a GM 3800 fanatic on Scionlife and he has determined that the M62 blower from early 90's GM 3800 cars is a good match for our engines. The blower is a good match because it only takes about 9hp to drive it and depending on pulley size and wether you intercool this system or not it could make 40-50hp.

So here is the deal.

I am hunting down an M62 blower. I should be able to find one for under $250 used. With help from my friend, I will fab a mount for it and make a plenum to bolt it to so I can plumb the boosted air out the back of it into a 2.5" tube.

I also have a friend with a CNC lathe that is ready and willing to make me an alternator pulley with a serpentine belt pulley on the end of it to drive this thing.

As for fueling. We all know what a bitch the xB is when it comes to programming and all. Well I have done some research and I am making a 5th injector controller for the extra fuel needs. This device will read the oxygen sensor and the MAF sensor, using this info it will kick in the fith injector based on fuel needs. This device will also be adjustable so I can tell it when to turn on and how much fuel to add.

This 5th injector device has been tried and proven on my friends turbo Escort. He drives that car everyday in the summer and it makes 212 hp and 262 ftlbs of torque with a turbo.

I currently don't have any money to start buying the S/C, but I have started making the 5th injector device, stay tuned for pics. This project might take a while, but I'll chime in on occasion with updates.

I wasn't at first either but then I realized just how simple it will be. The hardest part is going to be fabbing the S/C mount and plenum. The 5th injector control my friend is helping me with is simple to install.

I hope it works out well for you! I'm sure you won't have any harder of a time than Brandon did. :rofl2:
I can't remember the last time I saw him and he wasn't bitchin' about something to do with it.
