Steering Wheel Help

Does anyone know how to get the little silver pieces off the steering wheel for painting? Its an 06 xB with radio controls on the steering wheel.

you need to look on the side for 2 bolts one on each side that have a star head. lossen them but dont take out, then pull on the airbag then there should be some screws that hold them on. then you just unplug the one and pull they are held on by clips but they come off

Thanks. Yeah I saw those two star headed screws but I didnt take them out. I thought they may be for the steering wheel itself or something. Ill give it a shot.

They are torx, not star. You can likely borrow a set of the bits from AutoZone if you don't own any.

Or buy a set. Anyone who works on imports can use a set of Torx drivers... :-)

Dont forget to disconnect the battery if you are messing with the airbag :up:
