Intresting... every company has defects though... its how they handle them, that lets you know what kind of a company they are....
I use thier sways... no problems and I beat the crap out of them at previous race events.

There are pics further into the post of a broken sway also. Apparently this is not an isolated incident

I've heard if you use hotchkis sways with any spring lower than the hotchkis drop, they'll rub and eventually the sways will break......

This is not true...........
I used tein coilovers... and the coilovers mount point for the endlink is lower... and I had very slight rubbing issues...

Yea well like I said companies have defects... you can get crappy metal... think about how many sets of sways and springs they have sold... think about everyone that is running thier product on SL... and only 3 people so far have had a real problem...
I mean toyota sells (just picking a number) 1,000,000 cars a year... I bet at least 20,000 come back with problems....
Welcome to the real world guys stuffs not made perfect everytime!

I think there are a small amount of issues, but it does make me question the materials. I mean, I have seen plenty of springs with some surface rust on them, but not many that rust so badly they break like those did. My 96 saturn's stock springs barely have rust on them, even after being my winter car for the past 4 winters here in MN. My TRDs on the tC have some rust spots on the surface, but nothing like what those look like. Seems they had some sort of coating issues.
I know the Hotchkis sways had some worse rubbing issues early on, but I think they corrected a lot of it. Saw a couple of people who had theirs break as well, but it seems very many have them with zero issues.
I am going to run this autox season on my TRDs springs and rear sway again, but really want to go to a set of Hotchkis sways next year, so I will be watching how they do between now and then to see if others have issues. When I switch springs, it will be Tein SS-P's though, mainly because I will be corner balancing it and want more adjustment. But if I were staying with springs, I am not sure now if I would go with Hotchkis until I found out why the coating failed and they rusted so badly. I am starting to hear others who have looked at theirs and said they looked pretty bad rust wise.
I dont think anyone is shooting the messenger either. I think it is worth posting up just so people are aware. Had you come out and started the typical SL panic thread, then I think people would have been more harsh :D
