So here it is ... the 06 and the 07 MAF sensors
Thats the 07 intalled on the intake box
and that's an 06 installed on that dirty CAI piping.
so just looking at the engine you see a big different .... the new sensors housing is smaller, much smaller. When you stop to look at it, you'll see the mounting screws are at different points on the sensor. the 05-06 was top left, lower right screws looking from the front of the car. the new 07 is lower left, top right.

Now at face value, the only similatiry I'm seeing is that the both use 5 wires. I assume you can fit them straight over, but most likely the readings the older sensor will return won't be good and likely kick the car into that loved limp mode. Tomorrow when I get home from work I'll see about taking both sensors off and seeing the different inside the intake.
More fun to come

The new MAF and manifold design allow the tC to be considered a ultra low emission vehicle now compared to the previous low emission vehicle standards.

Oh hey, my old post about the MAFs ... I finally got off my lazy butt and did all the comparisons, soon as I get my air filter form Jeremy, I'll try the actual install ... here's the result:
Ok, no idea where all that chit chat about exhausts go, because there was no documented change with the 07 exhaust system with the exception of the manifold/header design. On that note however, I believe my midpipe is shorter on my 07 bc my Injen SES axleback from my 06 tC doesnt sit right on the 07. But at the same time, Cybe's Injen SES, same version as mine, sits fine on his 07, so who knows...
....but on to what I was actually posting here for again. I know I'm really running this into the ground, but we all know the 07 MAF changed, but do we know what changed? I read alot of speculation here, and on SL. Well I finally got off my lazy butt and compared the two. Here's the pics of my 06 MAF and my 07 MAF w/ my 06 Injen CAI. (don't mind the white stuff on the intake pipe, its from a fire extinguisher you pervert)
07 and 06 side by side pictures:

06 fitted on my 06 CAI:

07 fitted on my 06 CAI, note the obvious size difference, and that the mounting screws are on opposite corners from the 06 unit:

A picture from inside the CAI pipe, looking at the sensors on the 06 unit:

And a picture from inside the pipe, this time looking at the sensors on the 07 unit:

I'm still going to get some sort of "gromet", as mentioned above, to see if the CAI's designed for the 05's and 06's will in fact work with the 07's, with a little modification. I don't suppose there's anyone in the Tulsa, OK area has a Scantool that wants to test actual numbers. Not sure that my judgement on how it feels and whether or not it throws the CEL is a solid indication.
**Oh ... and by the way, after sitting here looking at the two, the part numbers are different.
2006 reads:
Toyota/Denso
22204-21010
197400-2000
06G17
07 reads:
Toyota/Denso
22204-31010
197400-5001
07H15
So on the odd chance you have to order an MAF for your 06 or 07, you know if your parts guy is getting you the right one.

I just thought of something! I'm a genius yanno, always thinkin!
Tulsa area tC's ... Kevin, James... Clay .... I want to compare the stock airboxes from 05/06 to 07, see if the intake itself has changed, or just the sensors. Based on what I recall, they peices themselves look pretty much the same.
