ok when i bought my box the cruise work great, i made a trip to lousianna yesterday and everytime i tried to use the cruise it didnt work and the abs, trac off, and vsc lights came on i had to pull over turn the car off and restart to get rid of the lights. has anyone else seen this? dont know if i knocked something loose during mods or what. i have installed a new sound sys, and installed a ground wire kit lately, i did a quick check when i arrived in LA but could not find anything disconnected.:(

I am guessing it is the wiring for the sound system. Who did the install for the sound system? It sounds like a wrong wire was tapped into and when the cruise control is engaged, it shorts out a wire and the ECU gets scared and starts flashing lights.

i did the stereo install myself but i used a farctory harness adaptor, and the only wire i tapped was the cig lighter for power for my reverse camera( i have it switched rather than tapped into the reverse lights). dont think thats it, could be though, it was on check list to try and remove my system just to troble shoot.
my back bumper is off right now being repainted, so the 2 side light on the rear are off and disconnected, if a bulbs has caused someone else to act screwy maybe it could be, ill found out when i get my bumper back and reinstall.

Check the Vehicle Speed Sens. connection on the cruise module. Depending on where they tied it in, it could be shorting out and causing the above problem. I know when I installed my cruise, I tied in the VSS wire at the radio harness. Also make sure you didn't leave the ground for the cruise disconnected(mine grounded at the cruise module under the hood), that will cause a back-feed problem and will make the computer upset.

I have seen this a couple times , Check the connections at the computer under the glove box , They tap into wires there with scotch locks and they come loose .( Note if you have a standard there will be 1 wire there not use-Unhooked ) I removed the scotch locks and soldered mine in place , No more trouble .
Hope this helps

it gets its speed signal from 1 of the connections at the computer , sounds like what was happening to me .. repairing those connections fixed mine .

You can get the VSS signal at the computer as per the instructions, but I found it easier to get my power and VSS at the radio harness. Definately check the T-Taps. They will come loose after time. I soldered and taped my connections, the best way in my opinion.

The green light stays on because it is still getting power. Travis, check the VSS wire, I bet it's got a loose connection.

mine is a factorty cruise option and has 2 plugs that go from the cruise box under the hood and runs throuh the firewall and then plugs directly into two plugs under the driver side dash, these are pluged in tight, i pulled out my glove box and there is nothing that looks tapped over there.

Unfortunately they never offered a "factory" cruise option. It was probably added on by the dealer, or the previous owner. Look under the dash and see where the two harness's come through the firewall grommet. like you said there should be one that goes to the brake switch area, one that goes to the clutch switch area if it's a stick, and then there should be a wire or two that goes somewhere else in the vehicle. Those other two wires are for ignition power and the VSS. Here is the PDF version of the install manual.

thanx a million for the pdf, this will help me find the other wires, i was only able to find the two plugs under the left dash, after seeing this i wonder if i pulled that one under the glove box loose when i ran all my amp and video cables across there. thanx again hopefully thats all it is

Not a problem. After having my cruise, it makes those long trips more enjoyable. When I drive the wifes XB on long trips(it doesn't have cruise) it sucks.

Yeah, the boxes tend to NOT get 30+ MPG going 90 - 95.

i finally checked out my cruise last night and resoldered the connections at the BCM like matt said, now it works just like the day i put it in. give that a try and see where that takes ya. the only other wire that gets hooked up is the brown ignition wire from the cruise control module. check that too i suppose.

Was cruise control an option because I don't think I have it on my 2006 Xb, I bought it used with 3000 miles on it!

No, unfortunately it was not a "factory" option. Usually it was installed by the dealer, or the dealer had someone install it for them.
