Following OBDII standarts I tried to read ECU error codes by means of shorting contacts 4 and 13 as it shown in the picture below:

(Ingition to pos. on, wait 20 seconds then shorting)
Some indicators start flashing and if there are errors, certain indicator will flash digit-by-digit accordingly to the scheme below:

Here is the question: has smbdy tried this way and how to recognize codes?

i`ve never even heard of it. but if you have codes i can look them up at work and tell you what they are, how to fix it, and how long it should take. also show you pictures. if you got a check engine code i can probably look it up. i dunnno what your referring to... lol
Does it matter if Ive done it on another vehicle and not necessarily a Scion?
Your check engine light will flash in two distinct sets. Like it might go
bleep bleep long pause.......bleep bleep bleep bleep
That would be read as 24.
Again all of this is off a Nissan Maxima and Altima. That what I have done it on.

I`ve tried to read error codes, there were three flashing indicators: ABS, air-bag and seat belts.
If there were no errors indicators were flashing without pauses continuously. Only airbag indicator was flashing in a strange way: pause-25-4-4-3-26-27-pause and again the same.
I cannot understand this behavior because 25 uninterrupted flashes are out range.
Have somebody tried this way of checking? What results did you get?
I may be incorrect here, buuuhhhht,
I believe I have understood that to mean that there is more than one code being thrown.
Your codes are all hieroglyphics to me, but that's where I think I'd start.
