Given all this huge snow fall and my purchase of new wheels. I've been pondering how low I can drop my car and still survive this weather.

So how low do you guys go and what consequences do you accept?

Btw, I currently have a stock height gen1 xb on stock strapped winter treads.

If i were you i would wait till spring to lower. Some people are at least 2in drop and still get by.

Well my xB is lowered and sits about 3 inches off the ground and I had no problem on Saturday getting to work in the morning...

I will lower my tC in the spring since I did not have a any troubles so far with the B...

I went all of last year dropped on S-Tech's and didn't have a problem. S-Tech's give almost a 2 inch drop. It's actually 1.8"

My car has been in the garage ever since the day of the Fall Cruise.

Yeah, I'll be waiting until spring to lower. But I am probing around for parts now.

I expected 2 inches to cause problems. It good to hear that I can go that low.

Can I get away with oe struts? Oe front/Monroe rears?

As far as shocks and struts I know most people change them out but I stayed stock all around.

I'm planning on doing coilovers this spring if my wife let's me. If you don't find any springs let me know and I could sell you mine if I get coilovers. I'll be starting my modding in March or April. I try to be done for the year for the Ames All Scion Show in May.

How was the ride quality compared to stock? What wheels/tires were you running?

Coilovers are. $$$big$$$. I'd probably pick up your springs if I don't find anything in the mean time.

S-Techs are very comfy. They feel just like stock in my opinion. They usually sell very fast used if you happen to find any at all. They are the most popular out of the bunch if you ask me.

I ride S-techs in the winter with 15" wheels. Probably not the smartest thing, but I only drive my car for like 3 weeks when I'm home from college.

That's what I'm planning to do, except I'll be driving all winter. S-techs with 15" and winter treads. Maybe some kyb struts in the rears too.

I could do h-techs, but a 1 inch drop doesn't seem like enough. Have you encountered any issues during your 3 weeks of winter driving?

My RS7 xB and snow are not playing well together :( So far I have cracked both side skirts and they are $700 a side. Ouch!
They are comming off and getting repaired (or I am getting new ones) and they will not go back on until spring. Next winter before the snow flies I will be taking off the skirts so that I don't have to repeat this again.

So I don't recomend a big drop if you plan to drive all winter. I thought I would be fine...I was wrong.

I'm dropped 2" and have never been stuck in the snow. Rockin the stock rims all winter with some snow tires. And I go to school up in Moorhead (less than a mile away from fargo), so that says alot, our winters here are alot more brutal haha.

I got stuck for the first time on the big snow last sat. 5th largest snowfall recorded in MN history. Stock height with snow treads...

Doesn't mean I won't drop it come spring though!

I am dropped on Red TRDs right now with my stock wheels wrapped in snow tires, and I get around just fine. I do have to take my lip kit off every winter but that's no biggie.
