should i leave my cover this color and paint the letters silver or mask off the letters and paint the background silver leaving the letters blue. my box is silver, the paint i used is a little brighter and lighter than the other accents under the hood though you cant tell in the pict.

Hmmm...I just did my cover a bright green with my TCM....Im thinking of black lettering.

But I like the blue...silver would look good on the lettering but Id maybe even do black

The blue detail in you engine compartment looks sweet, think they silver lettering would just pop and tie it in with the color of your box...

i completely agree 100%. usually if you do a 2-tone like that your other color should be done as the base color for things like interior or engine bay. unless you can tie it in without making it look like you just decided to paint it one afternoon and looks too gawdy. blue cover with silver letters and a dark blue pin stripe to edge the letters. itll give it definition and depth.

thanx for the help everyone, blue w/ silver it is, i had it all done a couple of hours ago, and either i didnt clean it good or didnt leave enough time to dry( felt dry though) when i took the tape off some of the paint came off, so back to square one, masking off the toyota emblem was a bitch by the way, so im taking the opportunity to shave off the toyota part and just have the vvti.

did you use plastic adhesion promoter? it helps paint stick to plastic pieces a lot better than just spraying the paint on directly

You could also get some silver letters from Randode.com. That way you don't have to worry about messing up the paint when you do them. Just another idea.

an adhesion promoter just helps the paint chemically bond better with the plastic. some people dont use it but in cases where the piece will be hit, even on accident, the paint will just flake off or lose its adhesion.

yup rattle can, i have gotten pretty good at over the years, as long as the neighbors dont decide to mow while im painting. when i have alot of stuff to paint ill break out the paint gun and air compressor, to much of a hassle for a small job.
