I installed my megan racing header and weaponR cel fix today.

the header came with a new gasket and a new doughnut. i used both supplied parts to replace the stock pieces. my tC is an 07 with 13000 miles on it. now when i drive it i get a ticking sound as i accelerate. this didnt happen as soon as i drove it after install, took about 50 miles for it to start.

is it an exhaust leak? what could it be? how can i find the spot? what are my options to fix it?

(ive got a magnaflow cat back exhaust if that matters, put that on the car when it had less then 500 miles.)

hmm ive heard that the stock gasket seals better than any one that comes with the header. not telling u to pull the header off and swap yet but that could be it.

my full stainless exhaust ticked and creaked for 2 weeks, i was told its from breaking in the exhaust. but that could or couldnt be ur situation.

maybe something metal is hitting the headers of exhaust. Try re-check everything again just to be sure that nothing is hitting anything.

That reminds me.. my exhaust would hit the metal bracket thing by mid pipe.. so i removed it. That was like a slight ticking noise so its a possible that could be it. I say just get under there and have someone give it gas hehe. at least you'll have a better idea where the noise is coming from

the top 2 nuts were loose... i let my car sit overnight to get cold. go out there today to take off all the nuts from the header and put them back on... they wont thread... i look at the nuts and 1 of the 4 in my hand has some thread on it, so im going to go to (scion or homedepot???) to get more nuts and try again.

now for the good part... one nut wont come off... it just spins on the stud, it doesnt matter if i tighten it or lossen it, it does nothing but spin... suggestions for getting this one off?

looking at this pic taken from SL:

it is nut number 2 that i cant get to do anything.:Chien02:

got the nut off, used a screw driver behind it to get better pressure on it.

now that stud is crossthreaded... should be a fun install once i get more nuts.

coulve been worse, my header install included buying a new o2 sensor. yikes!! the original o2 was crossthreaded and seized in the stock manifold, it was almost like buying 2 headers by the time it was done. live and learn and pray for good luck.lol

ok, header is on and everything is bolted down tight, however.. i still have the leak, but now i know where it is... in the pic i already posted... where the #3 is, not the bolt, the actual number...it is leaking from there.. are we going to blame that on the megan gasket? way to fix other then buying a new gasket? i dont mind buying a new gasket... i mind taking the header back of to fix it, lol.

lol yea heard its not fun.but i would say use factory gasket instead of buying a new one. but heys its your decision. and yea well now that we are talking about it. what do i have to do to take the o2 sensor out of my stock manifold without damaging it?

use liquid wrench or wd-40 and soak the threads for an hour or so before anything, get a wrench and be gentle.

mine was crossthreaded and seized from the factory, that bitch wasnt comin out without a blow torch(i mean cutting torch, i used a blow torch and that didnt work either, lol), just luck of the draw, peeps at the manuf. plant are human too, just not as bright.lol. just cross your fingers.

awesome now we all know if u want to do it once with headers and for best seal use the oem gasket for headers. the tsudo ones say to use it that its the best on the website speed-element.com

yeah, the DYI on SL says to get a new one also, and i had planned on it, until i saw the one in the box with the headers... i assumed it would work. :thefinger:
