View Full Version : What to do about the vinyl on the doors?

The vinyl on the B pillars look ugggglllly. If I pulled them off, will there be holes? I really wanted to get the carbon fiber double stick ...things, but they are stupid expensive for what they are. What yall recommend doing about them?

Eraser wheel. Or heat gun and peeling

here's a little trick to peeling the vinyl, start from one corner and peel it over like a banana peel. from there slowly peel it with even tension and it should be smoother peeling it off. the closer (360°/0° vs. 90°) to where you are pulling easier it goes. hope that made sense. so if you start from the top, once you got a good amount lifted fold the vinyl over so the adhesive is facing you so it should look like you opening a banana, and start pulling. (or am i making this more confusing? lol this worked for all 3 of my scions. and did each scion in like 5 minutes with no heat guns or hair dryers.

^^^agree. that is how i did it.

If you use a heat gun or hair dryer DO NOT hold it in one place for too long.

yup it gets more fragile and soft. and the cooler it is the easier to keep in one piece i've encountered worked easier.

Doing this was the hardest thing I ever did to my car. I have 0 nails, and my nail beds were bleeding trying to peel X_X. And I broke 2 of the belt moldings X_X

But they look good as hell, thanks everyone....to think I was gonna spend 200$ on the overlays. Why did toyota put the vinyl there to begin with?

I advize anyone doing this mod to invest in a pack of cigarettes and a bottle of asprin. It is a pain in the B-pillar.
