I want to recesse my cold cathodes into the headliner. But i cant find anything to cover the light or the edge of the hole. Has anyone done this before if so what did you use. Im thinking about getting some one to cut somthing from metal that will cover the edge of the hole and have like tabs to fold back. but i wanted to know know if anyone has done this before?

Most definately an original idea ... Now have you played with the effects of partially obstructing the lights ? Does it still give you the glow you want ? If you are not going to cut a hole in your roof, perhaps a center console through the roof of your car can be made with the lights set behind mirrored plexi, therefore when off all you see are the mirrors and of course lit up like a christmas tree at night.

In that case ... behind the headliner is some plastic bracing, easy enough to trim or break apart and shouldn't affect the way the headliner holds. Try the same idea. Make trim plates with plexi, and mount the lighting behind them. That way it still looks flush with the headliner and you can conceal all your lighting when not in use.
