Okay, I know alot of you probably think this should just be included in the BS thread, but I personally love having conversations about movies, TV, music...all kinds of shit that's on right now. I talk about it alot too. So take it or leave it, here's a thread for what's going on on TV and the big screen. I'll start it off...

A) what's your favorite movie?

B) has anyone been following the new season of South Park? I loves it...I SAID WHAT WHAT, IN THE BUTT...I SAID WHAT WHAT, IN THE BUTT...YOU WANNA DO IT IN MY BUTT? IN MY BUTT? lol fuckin hilarious.

I can't really say I have a favorite movie. I like a bunch a whole lot. I don't have cable so I don't watch much tv just lots of movies and I go to the movies a lot too just recently saw: sweeny todd, it was better than what I thought it would be. The ruins it was pretty cool. And Drillbit taylor, not the best owen wilson movie, but sorta funny. Some people say I look like him...:/ I don't see it...

If I have to pick a favorite movie then it HAS to be Tommy Boy. I've watched that movie a thousand times and never get tired of it.

Favorite show would be either Friends or Family Guy.

It's really difficult to say favorite movie; I am a comedy guy all the way, but my favorite movie is the Matrix. Then the list of comedies would be all Judd Appatow's (40 year old virgin, Knocked Up, Superbad) and of course Grandma's Boy. If you have not seen it, it should be priority today to buy it and watch it.

And South Park is amazing. I liked the youtube episode a lot, the fight between all the viral video people was sweet.

YES!!! Tommy Boy is freakin' hilarious!!!
"It's Herbie Hancock."

Another good movie would be: Confidence....it makes you think all the way through....at the end, you think "what the hell just happened?" A group of cons jack $5 million from a bank.

"Lone Star State of Mind". If anyone else ever grew up in a small ass town, this is the funniest damn movie ever. Originally aired on the Starz network, but eventually was released to DVD. Stars Joshua Jackson, Jamie King, Mattew Davis, Ryan Hurst and DJ Qualls.

I think we're gonna get along just fine. My top 10 list has all of those in it. This is what my top movie list looks like, and if you haven't seen this first one, I WILL start calling you Donnie and telling you you are out of your element! And you will not know what I'm talking about because it's from the movie! BWAHAHAHAHAHA! :D

1. The Big Lebowski
2. Grandma's Boy
3. 40 Year Old Virgin
4. Thank You For Smoking
5. Office Space
6. Beerfest
7. Tenacious D: The Pick Of Destiny
8. Superbad
9. Knocked Up
10. Either American History X, Fight Club, or Bully

...which I know 10 is a big curveball, being that everything else is a comedy, but all 3 are really good movies and Bully is great because if I had a group of friends that actually killed somebody, everything leading up to the killing and every reaction after the killing would've been EXACTLY like them.

Oh, and The Big Lebowski is so good and has such a big cult following, that I'm actually driving up to Louisville this month for a special LebowskiFest, in which there will be games, White Russians, and a big screen viewing of the movie.

This season and last season of South Park have been especially awesome. I love "Canada On Strike" and first episode where Cartman gives Kyle AIDS. ....it takes $180,000 liquified dollars injected directly into the bloodstream to cure cancer. Fucking brilliant. And I love the play off of the Writers Strike.... "Yes, this is the WGA...the World Canadian Bureau...."

First off the Big Lebowski is amazing!!

Your top 10 is pretty impressive, I loved every movie on there even tenacious D: The pick of destiny. Were you really expecting them to come out on stage after the announcer told the crowd they were about to be f'ed in there ear p*****s! That is classic.

I've actually been doing that for my friend's band, Nirvine (at the bottom of my top friends on myspace)....have you seen the old series on HBO? They did like 5 or 6 3 minute episodes back in 2003. They're just like the movie except compressed to 30 minutes. I think they even have that same guy as the open mic announcer.

I don't think so. I'm not sure though. It's not often I watch something that's not comedy unless I know it's going to be good before-hand. OH! FYI. Semi-pro is NOT THAT GOOD. Although it might be if I didn't have such high expectations of it. I mean, c'mon....Will Ferrell, Andre 3000, Woody Harrelson, Will Arnett....although, I will say the team introductions at the beginning was fucking hilarious.

As far as music... I can listen to anything except for country. I blame the absolute hatred of country on my dad... He did it when he named me after a country singer. Musicianship runs in my family so I've got some talent here and there. My dad actually put out an album way back when... I actually have it... Vinyl baby! So funny. He's actually building a studio in the other part of the shop (those of you who have been to the shop know what I'm talking about and know how big this place is). So, should be fun, or at least fun-Y. :)

Music... I mostly listen to Tool, nine inch nails, rage against the machine, chevelle, coheed and cambria, disturbed, metallica (although I do prefer older rather than newer metallica).... and of course I listen to many many more...

That's pretty much what I listen to for the rock portion. I also like 80's music (Tears for Fears, Hall & Oates, The Police, etc.) and a little hip-hop. Snoop, Dre, Eminem, Bone Thugs, etc. I don't like most rap/hip-hop, but some yes.

Also, no Country for me. I had to listen to it when I was younger and my mom would always listen to it. I just don't get into it now.

I feel ya! I love music that tantalizes the soul and mind. When I worked in Lexington I drove my Miata, and on nice nights, I would take the back roads home with the top down and listen to good chill music. Something to make you enjoy the pleasantries of being alive... Dave Matthews, Cold Play (Two of my all time favorites) Enya is great... I love Ollabelle, if you've never heard of them, they're fabulous... they did some of the music for O brother where art thou... Great music. India Arie... Also a fabulous artist.

I love music.

I'm hearing some good band/artist names...and I'm REALLY glad I didn't see MCR or Fall Out Boy on anybodies list.... *shudders*....anybody young enough to miss childhood alternative in the '90s?? Butthole Surfers? Nada Surf? Blind Melon? Harvey Danger? Any of those one hit wonders ringing a bell?

Those are some of the best bands that I still listen to. I really like Blind Melon and Nada Surf. My Zune has quite a bit of Butthole Surfers on it. And Superdrag is another sweet band from the mid 90's.

I listen to pretty much all punk/ska. Sublime, Reel Big Fish, Lagwagon, Less Than Jake, The Bloodhound Gang, and NOFX.

Hey... we're not thrashing peaple for what they like...

Yes... I like Cold Play... I appreciate artists that play, write and sing (yes, sing (not scream)) their own music. I'm not a fan of punk music, speed metal, or thrash... the latter of the two I can't really relate with. Punk music just reminds me of a bunch of posers.

eric_04scion
04-10-2008, 08:56 PM
I didn't say we were thrashing people for what they like. To each their own. Just stating I don't like them. I just can't get into slow or slower music. I love fast tempo. Got to get into it and Jump around.. Jump up jump up and get down.....
That's why I like punk. Its extremly fast pace just fun and energetic music. Anyways..... Has anyone listened to chiodos? Just heard a couple of songs by them and they mix hardcore screaming/ singing/ piano playing/ its crazy.... I like it even though the guy sounds like a girl singing sometimes because he sings high. Oh and by the way, gone in 60 seconds and star wars have to be on my favorite movie list.

haha country music....we use to joke around about that. one statement that we had was that: country music was full of rock wannabes that didn't make the cut.

bands: coheed and cambria, korn, metallica, dragonforce (herman lee is nuts), velvet revolver, jack johnson.

Mary Jane's cool as hell. I hang out with her all the time. She actually brought up my license plate a couple months ago... "911 ANL" ....KoRn's definitely my band to rock out to in the car. I want to see them live SO bad.

And country sucks because everyone has the same two song topics...."hey let's party" or "my wife/husband cheated on me so I'm gonna go put it in my sister/brother's butt"

I'd just like to say that I have seen every comedy movie in theaters right now in the past 3 hours and I did not like any of them. Here's why:

Forgetting Sarah Marshall - however, Mila Kunis is really hot and that's pretty much the only thing that kept me from stopping the movie early, it was written by the main character, which from what I've seen in the past, never ends up good. The comic relief characters were pretty good, but the movie was ruined for me as soon as I saw Segel's twig'n'berries right at the beginning and wanting to stab myself in the eye with a rusty, bloody knife so I would go blind and die days later. Because he did that, everytime his mug appeared on the screen, that's the vision I got in my head, and I wanted to die.

Drillbit Taylor - Not enough jokes! It gets boring halfway through.

Harold and Kumar - this one is just so ridiculously absurd that even hard-up stoners would say it's too low-brow. Nothing but weed, racist jokes, and a terrible portrayal of American government today with poop jokes sprinkled in throughout. Don't get me wrong, I usually love all of these, but this movie makes it a little too blatant.

But this is the other reason that part was stuck in my mind the rest of the movie: I've read that the personalities (as well as the names) of Seth's friend's characters in Knocked Up was written how they are in real life. If that's true, then that makes me think that Segel wrote that in the movie he, himself stars in, just to show he wee wee on the big screen.

A guy I work with bought the Watchmen book yesterday. He reads ALOT so he will probably have it done by Monday, so I'll be finding out more about the comic book's story line then. Then compare it to the movie. He's done that with just about every book based movie. Some movie's are better, but most usually the book is a lot better. BOOTY JUICE!

And it doesn't mean anything that we told you she dies because of two reasons:

A)It's in the plotline on any website that's covering the movie updates (such as imdb.com)

B) She dies, IN THE OPENING SCENE, so it's not like it's the big climax point or anything.

Favorite movie? I have two.

1. Resivoir Dogs

2. Pulp Fiction.

Quentin Tarintino is a Pop Culture Maniac.

I loved the movie Death Proof he did, but the double feature (Planet Terror) didnt really strike me all that much. I have a thing for cheesy horror, b-movies and grindhouse flicks. Gotta love the 70's Explotations!

Okay, so this has been a tough week for Hollywood stars.

Ed McMahon
Farah Fawcett
Michael Jackson
and yes....
Billy Mays (from the info-mercials)

I saw STP live with some coworkers for free last night in the nasty natti. One of the best shows I've ever been to. My only beef was the crowd wasn't equally as live. I was expecting mosh pits and people throwing bows being 3rd row back in the pit. The only one throwing bows was me, so I just made myself look like an asshole. lol

that last video looks like it was about where I was standing but on the other side of center stage. I was like 4 or 5 guys down from the guy that recorded that last video. And guess who paid for it and went with me along with other random no-names of my dealership? Dan, the guy from the show....SWEEET!

The set was about 1 1/2 hours long and I left like I do from every big show like that, dripping sweat, sore, and completely blown away.

anybody else seen...

gi joe... pretty cool but not the real american hero i was hoping for. it was really entertaining though with good special effects and it left off great for part 2.

district 9... awesome effects and an alright story. i wasn't expecting it to be mostly shot like a documentary and have subtitles so that kinda sucked.

public enemies... johnny depp + real life gangster story = really good movie.

no, but I saw The Goods last night. It had no real plot, it was basically just them throwing a bunch of jokes up at the wall and seeing what stuck. It was hilarious though.

paranormal activity was a disappointment. it was hyped up entirely too much. if you take out all the audience scenes in extended preview then you have seen the movie. i've never seen a movie that shows the ending in the preview. it has a few good scenes and some great effects but definitely not what it was made out to be. not scary at all.
