2011 tC;
When I first drive it cold, a green light with a temp. sign and a C by it comes on. I figured that this means the engine is cold. This goes off after several minutes of driving (engine has warmed up). I thought the manual would back up my thinking, but it says this is a sign that I'm low on coolant.
So, you guys that have this car, are you seeing this light when you first start a cold engine, or is my brand new car low on coolant?
thanx

I might be crazy, but I'm pretty sure thats what they did with the first gen xb as well. Its just a "dummy light" since there is no actual gauge for the engine temp.

Makes sense to me since you don't want to get on a cold engine. Why else would it be green with a C by it???? My first import car, who knows what they are doing?
And yes, I can check the level, but was away and could not get to the car when I read the manual. Figured someone with a new car would be helpful. My bad.
Edit: It appears I was correct, it is an engine cold warning so that you don't ride it too hard before it warms up. Some other people are seeing it as well.

Mine has done this since day one (Oct. 4). Plenty of coolant, ice cold engine and that light is on. One minute later, it's off. I was guessing it was a "cold engine" light. Affirmation!
Has anyone experienced the electric fuel pump sound coming out of the right rear wheel well after the car has been sitting for 5 to 7 hours after a long day of driving? I discovered this issue at 1:00 am and it kinda freaked me out. Turned the ignition to the "on" position without starting the car and the pump stopped. I found some info on a Toyota Tundra message board that says it's normal, something to do with fuel system equalization of some kind.

No issues with my tC so far...
But as far as the light you guys are talking about, is completely normal. Since we lack of a temperature gauge in the car this lights indicate whether the car is cold or it's getting hot, there is another one like it but it's red.
So no worries :up:

It is a "cold" temp light when green at start up and for the couple mins after. It is red if your car is "hot" or overheating. I have the same light on my 2011 xB and called the dealership to ask what it was since it was not in my owners manual. The green light goes off when your car reaches about 130 degrees.
I disliked that they did away with the temp gauge in the xB, so I ended up buying this (http://www.scikotics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=305894) (<-click for link) so I can monitor the temp (and now many other things).
Hope that info helps!
