Thought I would list some of the things I like and don't like. Just got the car a few days ago, only have 40 miles on it. My other vehicles are a v8 mustang (199http://www.scionlife.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif and an old v8 Jeep (1975), so maybe some of the dislikes are just differences in the types of vehicles that I have to get used to. I will add to this as other things come up, and would like your opinions and likes/dislikes.

Likes:
Love the color Crimson Mica. Looks black at night, Burgundy in low light, and a deep sparkling red in bright light. Awesome!

Rims look great-no need to ever upgrade, IMO

The shift knob is great looking (I have the 6-speed).

Stereo sounds real good- another thing I will probably leave alone (base).

Love the Scion emblem. I've seen another thread about taking it off- why?

Seats very comfortable-also like the pattern. They say each car is different.

Leather steering wheel feels great.

Dislikes:

I always have the window down and my arm up there. This is hard plastic, not very comfortable. And the elbow rest is too low.

Would like more instruments. A temp and a voltmeter for starters.

Why does the passenger airbag light need to be on? I trust it to work. The light is irritating. Will consider covering it or removing the bulb.

I think it's turning too many revs in 6th gear. This gear should be more like an over drive than it is. If memory serves, it was over 2k at 60mph. Then again, I'm used to american v8's, maybe the higher revs are not that big a deal?

The shifter seems to be further away than I would prefer. 1-2 seem to be about where 3-4 should be. I keep thinking that I need to move the shifter more towards myself for 1st gear. I'm sure I will get used to this.

The revs seem to hang when you let off the gas much more than my other cars, I would like it to be drop sooner. Just sounds like unnecessary revving when I let off the gas to shift or slow down- another import thing maybe.

Car leans in corners much more than my mustang-I will upgrade to fix this as parts and money become available.

I don't like the multi selecter for the stereo (base) feels like something that may well break. Also, can't get it to go into the mode that will allow me to adjust balance, fade, etc. Very irritating.

MPG seems low so far. The best I think I have seen the thing read is 23.7. Most of my driving has been city, but drove this morning on the back roads around 60mph between stop signs and didn't see much of an improvement.

Ok, sounds like I hate the car, but really, I think I'm just getting used to an import after driving nothing but American v8's all my life. So far I'm happy, and glad I got the car.

the revs staying up between shifts
is awesome. Flywheel is the right weight. You'll get used to it. Your complaints aren't as bad as you think as they are minor.

i hate the fact that the driver side is the only side with a reverse light. i think ima hack into the driver side light and run a wire with a blulb from that light into the passenger side , then use a 1" hole bit to make a hole for the socket. i work at a dealership and have had to do it to vehicles when installing a tow package on them for the trailer hitch lights to look factory in the rear housing. it shouldn't be much different.

the excess revving after letting off the gas is probably cause of electronic throttle....no cables...its reading voltages and adjusting as needed...so it may take time to drop(like the new chryslers i work on)

the MPGs.....is there a trip reset u can hit while that function is displayed? you have to reset it each trip to see your MPG. if not then its getting the average mpg of the entire time youve had the car...(just like chrysler owners complain about bad fuel economy when they havent hit the reset button yet)

these are 2 things that could help ease your state of mind

I currently have about 3700 Miles on my tC2 and the "likes and dislikes" are pretty much the same, but so far I am satisfied with the car.

as far as the stereo goes, just press and hold the 'ssp' button on the bottom left of the stereo under the volume nob. it will allow you to access bal/fade, bass, treble, speed controlled sound, and most other controls...

^^^THIS

I was wondering what the fuss about the sound system was about until I read the manual and found the settings...

I have the bass and treble both set to 3 and the compression quality thing set to mode 1 and there is such a huge improvement!

My .02...

+1 on the 'single' reverse light...That's the first thing I noticed when my boyfriend was backing into a parking space next to me...Then I realized it was a 'dummy' light when investigating...Definitely going to order the reverse light kit ASAP. Problem solved ;)

My glove box looks like it is mis-aligned...There is a big gap in the top left corner...

USB does not work - I think it never was plugged in when the radio was installed by the dealership...

Going to have the USB and glove box looked at on Monday...

I had the same issue -- It is a new design for the radio and they didn't know it had to be plugged in. Not a big deal, but it IS rather annoying...

As far as everything else goes, I'm averaging around 32 mpg unless I hammer it, then I get like 27 or 28... I took a trip up to our cabin and averaged almost 36. Now that I have an Injen SRI, it does even better... Tomorrow morning throwing on Tein S-Techs, and coming up shortly a front wind splitter... All in all, I should be doing pretty good with gas. My ONLY complaint is with the single reverse light and the orange dash, both will be addressed ASAP. Otherwise, I love this thing even more than I loved my RS5.0!!!

yeah that was a little while back i just topped 7k but it isn't my primary vehicle so i only drive it 3 days out of the week sometimes.

Another thing i happen to dislike about the second gen, THE PAINT JOB SUCKS!!! it gets rock chips and cratches REALLY easy!

Yeah I took mine back to Toyota and told them to fix the "broken" bulb on the other side... When they told me it was made this way I asked why and they told me it was a European thing. I still don't get it.

If you hold the button to switch to the different audio modes, for a few seconds, it will take you to the audio options. (FADE/BASS/TREB....) Turn the dial to switch to different settings, up or down to change value. Certain ones require you to push the the button instead of up/down or turning the knob.

Toyota should have spent the less than $100 and just put in another damn bulb and wiring. I can't tell you how irritating it's been with people flagging me down in parking lots and gas stations telling me I have a light out. I was just talking with the guys in my chapter about doing something similar to mine. Let me know what you do and how it goes.
