i have an 04 xa with almost 80k on it.

ok so my battery finally died on me the other day...i bought the car in march of 04 so not bad. i limped it home and changed the battery but now the idiot light with the battery will not go away.

second problem... so after i fixed the battery and i was driving it down the road and the overheat light came on so i pulled over and saw that there was coolant on the drivers side of the engine bay. so i let cool down and got it home. But i can not see where it is leaking. it looks as though most of it leaked below the coolant resivor and under the intake. any ideas what it could be before i start replacing things till i figure it out? thanks for the help man this sucks!

Tim only thing I can say/suggest:

-Check owners manual for in-dept info on battery light.

- I'am a general tech at NTB: go to NTB (NTB.com/TBC.com) find a local shop and get a free battery test done. If ok you may need to check the full electrical system(starter, alternator, belts, and pullys)!

- As far as cooling system:

D.I.Y.= cool car fill withe coolant in radiator and spare reservoir! Buy a radiator pressure test tool, test! Lift car a little bit. Buy a leak detection kit. Get an assistant. Let car run and and a while 20Min min push gas now-and-than. Watch radiator, radiator cap, hoses, and reservoir tank/hose for leaks!

PROFESSIONAL= Take to shop. Buy a radiator pressure test. Than buy a leak detection service!

I hope the xA gets better and your issue resolved!

get a DMM and check the alt while the car is running, check the battery, check the connections.

there is a small rubber hose coming from the bottom of the radiator. check to see if that hose is good and it on there snugly

i found out what it was.. the belt broke but never made a noise. so i was driving and and the water pump was not working causing it to back flow the resivor which is why the coolant spilt was on one side.
