Getting my killerglass here in a few days with a white led in it and i was wondering what PURPLE engine coolant i could put in, that would work with the 08 xb?
I was told several times that i would f*#k it up if i put the wrong kind in and i have absolutely no idea what to do. Do i have to flush it and how? This is where yall come in, thanks in advance!!

i dont know about hte purple coolant and i didnt have to drain mine all the way becuase i was using a red coolant and the stock tc coolant is pink. I have no idea waht kind of coolant the xb has. If you want purple coolant though you will definitely have to drain the whole thing and thats not hard to do. There is a plug on the back of the radiator and that is where you drain it from.

For me I wanted blue coolant. I had to go to BMW and get a thing of their coolant. I had the pink toyota coolant flushed out of mine, and replaced it with the blue. What color is the xB coolant? Is it pink like in the tC?

Jorge is it true that it is bad to use any other coolant besides the toyota coolant, or is it just a myth?

from what people tell me. its the silicone in some coolants that might have a negative effect. but i doubt it. Jon had lowtox in his xB for a long time with no effect.

our engines arent that advanced that a coolant change would do anything. (my opinion)

im one of the ones that seen the horror that could happen so yea i wouldnt be comvortable with using anything other then toyota's.
i gave my killerglass to Jyl since she would use pink anyway.

but above that people seem to have not had much issue with other coolants, if anything the BMW is supposed to be loads better then the toyota brand.

The Engine Ice coolant looks more of a deep blue than purple to me, though I'm partially colorblind. I've ran it and did not have issues. It is phosphate and silicate free, formulated specifically for aluminum engines. Also, it's propylene glycol based so is non-toxic. The only downsides are it is not extened life so it needs to be changed annually and it costs close to $20 a bottle pre-mixed; each bottle is only 1/2 gallon.

I had to get mine from a Buell motorcycle dealer. It's primarily used in bikes and ATV's, so check those shops if you're trying to buy locally.

the wrong coolant will destroy gaskets - it has and does happen. They just tell you not to mix coolants because it's easier than explaining why.

Certain components of the coolant are terrible for certain gaskets - which cars have what is a different story, but It's no myth - it just might not apply to scions.

Same idea applies to oil - you can't use two-stroke oil in a 4-stroke motor. They're both oil, but they're formulated to work with certain engines. Oh, and don't put diesel in your gas tank either lol

ok i know this is an old topic but i need to know something... i went to go grab a gal of the red coolant that toyota sells... and the dealership said that it shouldn't be used on scions... that its not formulated for it (or something to that effect...) if i used the red coolant from toyota on a scion would my engine be that affected by it??

its the same coolant as toyotas, because they are toyotas. I dont know where some dealers get info like this

i beleive its cause toyota uses 2 different coolants. the red is like regular and the pink is "extended life". the ones tCs is pink.

Is the Pink Coolant avaiable at like autozone? Also i read that the plug to drain the fluid is on the back>? Do i have to remove the bumper or anything or will it just flow out into a container?
