Hello. Been looking for a new car for awhile now. Drove the mustang, mazda 3, Koup SX, camaro, cooper s, fiesta (ouch), and a GTI.

A Scion dealer near me just got their first 2011 TC, I was the first to drive it, and ended up being the first 2011 TC that they sold.

I got a crimson 6-speed manual tranny. They are so new, that there are no TRD parts available yet, in fact very few options at all. I didn't get any options, but I did manage to get them to throw in the floor and cargo mats as part of the deal (I think they go for around 170.00). I also got a lifetime powertrain warranty free. I paid the standard price and 1/2 of their 699.00 dealer fees.

I really hated paying dealer fees, but where I live EVERY dealer has them. I have argued and argued, and even left a couple dealers on very poor terms :) over the fees. Paying 1/2 is about the best I think I could have done. After 6% tax, tags etc. I was able to come in at under 21,000. I think I did ok. Did I?

Anyway, the car hasn't been built yet, so I have to wait 4-6 weeks :(. I did get everything (extra mats, warranty, etc.) in writing and in writing that if I did not like the car, I could nix the deal the day I first see it if I'm unhappy for any reason, or I can nix it if it takes too long to arrive.

If anyone has any questions about the car, and driving it, let me know. I will post pictures when I get the vehicle. Primary reasons for choosing TC over other cars on list:
Reasonable price, impressive standard features like 18" wheels, IPOD integration, cool sunroof. Lots of space, pretty quick (not awesome), I live a block from the dealer (easy service).

One question, I'm curious what you guys do to them for performance upgrades (or maybe since it is so new, nobody knows). I would like to get a little more Ommpphh out of it, but don't want to void the warranty, or break the bank.

Thanx
dave

for now TRD sparks is best bet but if you wait little while they will start making things for upgrades!! I went same thing with xb 2 when they started coming out because of engine increase from xb1! so if You want to wait or just do basic mods like wheels and stuff for now those are easy if ya know the sizes you want ! Get the engine and performance done later when Manufacturing starts up with companies!!

If You want to though I would recommend contacting Tony at Meng motorsports , (They are a sponsor for scikotics I believe), he might be able to help out finding things! Tony is good peeps!!:icon_yes: :cantiere:

Thanx!

I can't wait. I don't even have it yet, and I'm already feeling like a Scikotic!

I checked TRDSparks, gonna keep checking once the vehicle is in my paws. I don't see myself messing with the wheels, I like the 18" stock wheels, one of the reasons I picked TC over Koup (Koup has ugly wheels).

I'm going for the exhaust and the cold air first. Also want something to hide my stuff in the back, some kind of cargo cover.

Congratulations on ordering your tC. Those dealer fees seem kind of steep. In the end it's still worth it because you have a great car.

I think Scion benefitted from the fact that I had been in about 15 dealerships and had yet to win the dealer fees battle. In additiion to the vheicles I mentioned, I also drove several out of class vehicles (like the wrangler), so I saw lots of dealers and fought many losing battles. I was just tired by the time I got to Scion.

That said, when I step back - 21,000 out the door seems fair to me for the vehicle.

I saw that, but could not figure out how to change the name. Bad time for a typo.

Can I change it? If not, I can live with it. :mrb:

Congrats on your purchase. You will enjoy your new ride.
I got my 2011 tC on Oct. 4 and have almost 1,000 miles on it. Great highway ride.
iPod sounds great, CD's sound even better. Set the tire pressure up a little at 34.5 front and 33.5 rear. Improves handling and tightens the ride a little. Will DEFINITELY get the sway bars and quik shifter when they become available.
Dealer readjusted the headlights as they were too low and hooked up the iPod USB cable as they forgot to plug it in when they installed the radio.

Time to make some new memories!

What's the biggest difference between the 1st and 2nd Gen tC, in your opinion.

What's the biggest difference between the 1st and 2nd Gen tC, in your opinion.

one of the biggest differences as far as driving it is the handling, the handling is so much better. Another one of its biggest difference is how much more head room there is and the interior seems more roomier than the previous generation. Performance wise, i have not been able to determine how much improved it is, given that I don't wanna push my car too much until proper break in phase, but I do have to say that it responds much better in ALL the gears, the 1st gen had a little lag on 4th and 5th.

I love the new gear, I got so used to the 5 speed, i have been forgetting to shift to 6th while on the hwy lol, but one disadvantage I have noticed is that the RPM ratio does not vary as much from 5th gear while cruising at hwy speeds using 6th gear, there is only about .25-.50 RPM difference so at 80MPH you are looking at 3000 RPM on 6th gear and 3500 RPM if you were on 5th, not much of a difference in my opinion if you were trying to economize on fuel because if does not vary much.

Top end speed TBA

Thanks for your evaluation. Much appreciated. I test drove a 2010 6.0 tC, but I didn't have enough seat time to really appreciated the nuances.

On my 700 mile round trip to the beach it was VERY DIFFICULT to keep it under 80 mph on the wide open Interstates.

Congrats on the new whip and good luck with it. I like the new Tc, but i still like the previous gen as well. I heard the new one has some more power and better handling like you said. Enjoy it.

Not sure what you mean, they all come with the 2.5.

Still waiting, dealer told me 2-4 weeks, it's been 2. Starting to get the itch...

Oh I gotta check this when I get home lol... it is bad enough that the sticker does not have the NHTSA ratings, so who's gonna be the first one to test it first hand?

Finally got the car friday! Glad that the dealer did not try to play any numbers games, it went through easy. I was suprized that it had a full tank of gas, I think the window sticker said 5 gallons or something. I ordered it without sat. radio, and they told me that to get the car in a reasonable amount of time that was the one they had to take, so no charge. I think it lists at 449.00. Only 3 months, but at least the hardware is there if I want it. Kids love the car, and fight over the station (I'm sick of radio disney already).

I love the crimson color. Looks black at night, a deep burgundy in low light, and a sparkling deep red in bright light--great color!

The owners manual is 'war and peace' long, so I haven't cracked it yet, but I have some questions that I hope it will answer. Will make another thread for that if I don't figure it out.

Will post some pictures in a day or so.
