Columbus Chapter!?

Any Scion nuts in the Columbus area interested in possibly starting a Columbus chapter? I have to have atleast 2 more people to start one... my fiance and i both have scions and wanna start a chapter for columbus... make some new friends... and actually have something to do for once... anyone interested in joining and starting a chapter please let me know asap... thanks :) :md:

just thinkin about all this... anyone have any objections to starting a Columbus area chapter? I really wanna do this... i tried to do stuff with Ohioscions and they weren't doing anything... not to happy with them... Ive always liked the way Scikotics do things... I had some friends in Florida that were part of the Orlando chapter... they were all cool to hang out with... but yeah if any objections to this let me know... i was the VP of a pretty well known club when i was in Orlando so i know the ropes...

And Amanda if you want to send me your design thats cool... i have a ton of blank business card sheets at home... just need the design and some ink lol... shoot me a pm if u want my email but if not i'll probably buy some next week... and get some stickers when low5 gets back from vacay

You could still have a Columbus Chapter and include all the surrounding areas. I'm a member of the Cincinnati Chapter, but I don't live in Cincinnati... it just happened to be the closest chapter to me. I'm right in the middle between Cincy and Columbus. Just my 2 cents.

I really honestly dont think we need more than 3. just my .02 on that. it will be awesome if once we get the cbus chapter going we could all get together in the spring for a huge Ohio Meet! Go to a parking garage or something and take a massive photo. again just my .02.

I saw a Massillion thing on here... but its a good idea for spring... i was thinking on my 1hr drive to work this morning about shows and potential dealer sponsors already.. i have connections with a Scion dealer rep in Lima... and I have contact with one of the Scion Corp. i dont see what's wrong with massillon. theres 7 of us that meet up together. more for the club. if we had to go to cleveland or columbus to meet up people wouldn't do it after a while. driving for 1.5hrs there and 1.5hrs back is too much.

If you have enough members for a chapter, you stay active and you are not taking away from other chapters... then I think it's legit. The more scikos, the better!

Nothing against meeting up with other chapters for meets, shows, outings, etc. We are ALL scikos!

I drive to almost everything that the Cincy chapter does and it's around a 1 hour or more drive for most of that for me... so I feel your pain.

I think that if the new chapter city is at least 50 miles from the other chapter citys then it should be fine. It's hard to stay motivated after driving an hour or more to hang with your car buddies. Inactive members kill clubs.

Spreading the chapters through out Ohio would attract more members who don't want to leave their area to attend meets/events.

Good Ohio chapter locations are:
Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Toledo, Massillon, Youngstown, Wheeling, Lima, Portsmouth, Marietta, Chillicothe, and Sandusky.

We generally say that around 100 miles is a good distance to even think about starting a new chapter. If another chapter was going to start I'd be looking at something near Columbus or Toledo. Anywhere else I would probably hesitate to start another chapter. There are plenty of other chapters that drive 100+ miles for meets.

While having more chapter is a great idea its more about the quality of the members rather than the quantity.

i dont want to be a ball buster but i drive almost 2hrs to do events. depends on where we go. our meets in cleveland it takes me, Amanda and Tommy almost 1h 45m+ to get there, depending on traffic. then the same distance/time back. Ya it totally sucks, but...i do it because 1. I love to drive 2. I love meeting people 3. I have fun. Personally id drive as far as i have to. Honestly i think the only places we need to have chapters in ohio would be CLEVELAND, COLUMBUS, CINCINNATI. yea its fine to have more chapters but since those are major cities it only makes sense to have them in the major areas. Having more chapters i dont really think would do anything for us. There are alot of people that ive personally noted here in the Cleveland Chapter that just join up but never come out to events, post on the forum or even try and contact us for anything. Having centralized chapters would make the dedicated people come and it would ween out the ones who dont really want to be apart of the family. Dont take it that im turning away future scikos im just saying there are some people who just want the name but dont want the commitment. Id probably add TOLEDO to that also. thats just how i look at this. Im not shooting down the Massilon chapter at all. Just saying that there are plenty of us that drive 1hr+ to events. Hell our Dealership Sponsor is well over 1hr for everyone and we have awesome turn outs. just my .02

well like ive stated before... i used to be the VP of a well known club down in orlando when i lived down there... and i am very picky when it comes to the quality of my members and their rides.... so no worries there... I also do not tollerate members that are inactive... i understand that things happen and people have lives but if u really wanna be apart of the club then do so... Ive been wanting to start a club for aslong as i have been back here... so about 3 years... so i figured that a Columubs area Scikotics chapter would be best since My hear belongs to Scion lol... As far as shows and events go... I have no problem traveling... I have no life as it is so... If we get to travel and meet up with people that share the same passion as we do then im all for it... Also making new friends is a plus... I work for Germain right now so i can possibly land something with our toyota store for sponsorship since OS has tanskys by the balls... also got some good connections with the marketing director at Allan Nott in Lima and he has put me in contact with the Ohio District Scion rep so theres another bonus! My buddy at Allan Nott is willing to help us out... he was gonna try to go thru OS for stuff but Im pretty sure ive gotten him to switch sides :)

i think the more the merrier! but also you gotta keep commitment and quality too... and i understand every one has money issues or cant make it all the time... but atleast put forth the effort is all i care about

It seems like there is restraint on expanding the club, and the lack of support of having chapters all over the state is disappointing. I understand the appeal of having enormous chapters, and this is always available, maybe meeting two or three times a year when everyone comes together (I liked that idea too), but expecting people who don't want to drive that far to remain active for meets seems very controlling, and not longer becomes optional.

When I went up to Cleveland, you guys were really cool and I felt a lot of support. I'm juggling two jobs and full time school, so the chapter here fits with my lifestyle right now.

I feel kind of weird now...it seems negative. I want to feel free to visit and hang out. We're all Scikotics in the end and Massillon also needs your support! :)

Having less chapters forces members to drive a little further and participate. Scikotics would rather have a few less more dedicated members than a whole bunch of non active people just for the sake of having numbers. We have had too many problems in the past from chapters too close together and have learned from our mistakes.

We're not trying to hold anyone back or make it difficult, we're just trying to do it the right way.

No Massillon was created by your hard work and the dedication of the members in the chapter. Its one of the reasons it took so long to form. I wanted to make sure the members of Massillon were going to be quality and dedicated. Just continue being active and you have nothing to worry about!

Yeah I have been trying to start up a central ohio chapter for a few months now... we have 3 members thus far... but need a 4th to actually make the chapter official! so if you join we could get this ball rolling! and would be awesome! I live in Bellefontaine and so does my fiance... shes got a fm tc also and i got a xb1 then theres justin who you've already talked too... he lives down by dayton... so as you can see we're pretty spread out but thats why its a central ohio chapter lol... the winter is hindering the recruitment process but im sure we can land more people...

As for the Guy about street life tour I remember that box very well and very nicely done. My buddy is actually part owner of the tour and were kooking to actually get it touring here in the new year its just very expensive

He more along the lines of just kinda like doing a meet and greet deal. He just really like to meet his members. We were trying to get together for like 3 weeks then we had a QS&L meet to launch the G2tC here in Dayton so we just decided to meet there. So it really isn't really required, he just likes talking face to face and meeting the members of the chapter.

And thanks for the kind words on the B man, I've put a lot of time and work into it to get it where it is, and the work is only getting started. LOL Yeah I'm actually good buddies with Sanjay.

Yeah that is what Sanjay was telling me when I was helping him setup for this past year's event that he didn't really read the contract closely and later found out that Monster was helping sponsor the show and requested that no other energy drinks were allowed to be sold there during the show.

i lifted it up but not by much. i'm still plowing. i had 18's on for the summer but i was down to like 3 threads. I scraped the liner on every tiny bump and when i turned my wheels i had less than a 1cm gap between the tire and the fender.

i lifted it another 3ish threads and threw on some 17's so i don't scrape but i'm still snowplowing. distance from the curvy pipe in my exhaust to the ground is only a few inches still...

The reviews I saw on Raceland coils were mixed too. People who are into performance driving hated them. People who used them under normal conditions liked them. You get what you pay for. Good coilovers start at $1000 and go up from there. But if you buy them and you don't like them you're only out of $300.

Yeah we all do. Unfortunately I probably won't have much success since it is an hour drive to the meet, but we all need to keep tagging. And until we get more cards everyone should just buy a note pad and write down the site and a small message if you don't have any cards or run out. And plus note pads are good just to keep in your car just in case you meet someone or somebody wants to get some info from you about work that they want done then you can write down everything and just give them the paper so they don't forget.

I know it prolly won't help Justin unless he goes down 36 but we have talked about about having some stuff in marysville since its centrally located for all of us. Nicole and I were talking about parks...possibly roosters and bostons. So then we don't have to go ALL the way to scion west all the time. Have some variety and the different places we go, the more different people will see us. Like last night sitting at canes we got an interested guy who was just getting food. Lol. Dublin would probably be a good one too. Lots of stuff to do around there! Lol sorry things are coming to me as I type...plus I'm bored and thinking cause Andy is playing duke nukem. Hahaha

Thanks so much for inviting me out, it was really awesome to meet more people who love their scions! I can't really stress that enough. I was really pleased at the number of friend requests I got on facebook as well :) I'm looking forward to tC projects with anyone who wants to help. I met someone who can help me hopefully with my interior decorations, and got some great ideas about the paint job. I hated to have to leave before everyone else, and can't wait to hang with all or some of you again, just let me know when you want to hang out and what you want to do:)

I'm currently in the proccess of going through the web and sending in formal sponsorship requests for our chapter.
i received a reply from one company so far that said they would be interested in a partial sponsorship and giving us discounted parts in return if we rock there company stickers and pass out there business cards. I wont reveal the company publicly yet until we can get everything figured out but i've sent request to all the companies currently sponsoring scikotics as a hole.
i also sent reuqests to greddy,hks,tein,wilwood,brembo,passwordjdm, and im continuing to think of companies and sending them emails and faxes about us
