Hey whats up everyone well i've been wanting to get a turbo for my tc, but they are just to pricey. I've been saving up and im almost there lol.. And i heard a couple of my buddy's saying that its alot cheaper if you buy the parts seperate then just buying the package plus while buying things seperate you can get the best results for buying the best parts ... So i wanted you guys to help me out and throw some parts that you know thats really good and a estimate on how much you think it might be, so i can see weather i buy seperate or buy the whole package.....thanks

Unless you know the in's and out's of turbos, buy a kit. It is a lot of work building your own setup, and actually isn't that much cheapter than buying a kit from a company. If you don't know what you are doing, it WILL cost you more in the long run. You don't want to boost on a budget because boosted cars have problems that pop up from time to time and you will need money for that. From what I am seeing in your post, I would recommend buying a kit from a reputable company.

Stay away from those kits. The only kits I would recommend are Dezod or Turbo Toyotas. They produce good, quality kits and have amazing customer service. Stay with those two and you will be fine.

if you want to go custom, the weak link is always the turbo - spend the extra money to get a good turbo.

If you wanna go custom, I have a manifold and downpipe for sale - I'll let em go for $450 - retail is $700.

there's nothing wrong with the Greddy kit at all. The turbo's not as big as the rest, but that could be a plus, depending on your specifics needs.

If you want a turbo kit, Tubonetics, Dezod, TurboToyotas, and GReddy all make awesome kits. And they can all be tuned to make the power you want.

However, I've seen the most power from the TurboToyotas kit - I think Mr. Meaty is making 255whp on 5psi.

I have heard bad things about Turbonetics and especially the Greddy kits. Personally, I'd stay away from those two. Dezod and TT have proven themselves to make good, solid kits, plus, they give A LOT back to the Scion community. I'd rather give my money to a company that gives back to the community rather than a company that is only concerned about the bottom line.

Bad things about Greddy kits? like what? I know a ton of Greddy turboed tC's with no problems... including myself! There's just a couple things you need to know about the GReddy kit - you need the fuel management option and you need to buy a BOV and flange, and get that welded on. The only problems i've heard of with GReddy kits are that the internal wastegate was bent in shipping for a couple people.

Turbonetics kits i've heard a ton more problems on than with Greddy. 3 of the local owners that I know personally have all had turbo issues.... the turbos on them go bad.... fast.

I'd say go with a Dezod kit or TurboToyotas.
