Right now its just going to sit in my garage until i get her looking better then she does now. And i know this is the Scion forums but i just wanted to keep everyone updated on here. idk. i know that my friend has a 91 240sx that is a fast back or whatever they are called like his :icon_arrowu:. and it has a ka... something something something. a 2.4L dohc. the sr20det is a 2.0L stock turbo motor that can go in place. i could be wrong dont own a 240.

My 240sx is a single cam KA but i might swap it out to the dual cam motor this weekend im not sure yet. But the headlights are far from JDM they're some ebay headlights. I might go to this place called Carisma in orlando to pick some stuff up for my car this weekend so i'll keep everyone updated on the 240. As far as the SR20 goes i want to go KA-t before i get an SR. I really just want to paint it, fix the interior and do some suspension work and learn how to drift. Maybe later this year i'll try to get another tC but i'll see.

My friend used to have a 90 or 91 hatch and it was completly stock. He raced a 5.0 Mustang fox body and never had the mustang past his front bumper. It was an auto too. Then he spun out at 90mph in a curve, hit the median and slid in the grass. I thought it was awsome(course it wasnt my car and I drank 2 750ml bottles of wine so I was drunk). When we looked at the wheel to see what damage had been done from the curb, he had a bald spot on the side of the tire all the way to the rim.

his tc was stolen and torched
Sorry to hear about your tC but the 240 is a nice replacement. It sounds like you got a great project ahead of you! Good luck! And remember, Drifters do it sideways! ;)

yeah the ka24e..... is the single cam 2.4 which if you want to boost the hell out of a ka is the block you want... you can get way more lift and duration out of the cams and valve system and its a cast block and cast head.....so its stronger..... but keep this in mind no matter how much work you do to the ka's if you do the same amount of work to a sr20 you will have 20-30 more horse..... and not to mention it takes the same amount of money to buy a sr20 have it swapped as it would be to mod the ka24 to make it the same speed as a sr20....... the nice thing about the sr20 is you take off the cat and put a 3 inch apexi n1 exhaust you gain like 15-23 hp. to the wheels.... its bad ass..... but no matter what you got a good engine and you will have fun...... drift it and drift it hard....

put the stock headlights back on the car and also have S14 seats up front(which are so fuckiing comfortable!!!) new clutch is coming in this week and then with my next paycheck im buying the J30 diff(lsd) new dash and carpet and i thats all i can think of right now and also thinking about getting another 240sx hatch to use as a daily driver cause i plan on putting a turbo on the single cam motor(looking for 350hp to the wheels)

I don't know much about nissan motors, but if you're going to turbo a motor, don't spend the money to turbo a single-cam motor...they're inefficient, and I've never seen a single-cam motor break 200whp and last very long afterwards. There's a DOHC KA24, correct? You should just go straight for the RB26DETT -skip the middle man and go balls to the wall lol. Nothing like a 240 with the heart of a skyline.
I'm loving the 240 - excellent choice.

yes there is a dohc ka24 friend of mine has one in his 91 240sx pretty bitching lil motor. thing is huge and got massive potential he is just lazy and a dumb shit. the car sits outside of his uncles CAR SHOP with a brand new manual transmission next to it to get that bitch moving. can we say stupid and lazy. i might try to get that car from him. wouldnt be a bad idea. just gotta do a auto manual conversion. got everything but clutch.

the KA block can handle 500hp, the stock motor itself single and dual cam can hold 10psi just as easy as an SR can. 350hp from a single cam will only need some head work, rods, piston, and bigger injectors and 15-20psi plus the single cam turbo pushs alot more torque then the dual cam and the whole setup is cheaper then a S13 SR20DET swap

Ehhh . . . doing the RB26 swap on the 240 is very hard I heard. Lots of blown engines and breakdowns. Gotta put so much money into it too. Stick with the KA or the SR20 engines. Unless you have the actual S15 Silvia. I've actually thought about the RB26 swap on a 240 back a few years ago and after some research done. . . I decided no. Of course, my advice to you is . . "DO YOUR HOMEWORK!" GOodluck. I'm sure your 240 will look great once it's all done. Peace!

yeah if you are going to build a ka motor the single cam is better...... but the rb swap is not hard at all.... the hardest thing about the swap is figuring out the electrical work......and you can get the harness pre spliced online.....not to mention its a skyline motor... way faster more money..... but a good single cam ka is a good choice.... i love the ka engines they are strong and will only make you happy

RB25 need custom motor and tranny mounts, custom driveshaft and built rear end if you start building the motor

yeah i know but if you have a welder and have ever been under a 240 you would see y its easy.... lots of room for custom shit....ok so i guess its technically hard.... but easy for people who have done it before...... idk....the single cam is a good way to go......

idk i've been saving up money and i'm probably going to just buy an SR20DET i can get one at my front door for $1800 but i'm still debating it.

03-24-2008, 08:46 PM
shit i would dude. BA lil motor. the sr20det revs up higher than the ka doesnt it.
tc4life
03-25-2008, 12:24 AM
yeah it does have a higher rev limit.... if your choosing between and ka or sr i would always go with the sr....and the sr is know for taking boost well... hell it was made for it..... and it revs fast for drifting.... good times

well its been a minute since i've been on here but i just wanted to let yall know i just dropped a KA24DE in it and got rid of the single cam. Hopefully next month i'll be able to get some Megan coilovers, 300ZX z32 5 lug conversion, and some S14 SE wheels. Also might get a new pignose bumper cause mines is cracked and the lip. I need to start the body work so i can get it repainted red. I'll take pix once the suspension and wheel are on

Yeah, ka's are great but the potential and cost is a lot better with the sr20det. probably already mentioned but it is a stick, right? cause those auto 240 trannies are sh!t. but easy to swap from an auto to a stick. should've done that with my '89 240 but some blind old lady crushed my rear fender and they totalled it.

yea the cars has a Dual cam in and and its 5spd. Just a little update, the motor i bought for it that was suppose to be "running" had bent valves! so i spent $350 on a broken motor, but that just motivated me to build the KA! Motors being rebuilt and i got a 96 KA head thats been port and polished and shaved. Also has both exhaust cams, coming next paycheck 9:1 compression CP Pistons and Eagle Connecting Rods. Also looking for another head to have fully built and throw on some Stage 3 V3 Crown cams and slap a GT35 turbo on it. Looking to push 400hp from 8-22psi and looking to hit mid 12's :mrb:
