Hi im new to scikotics and i just bought a 08 scion xB2. I was wondering if i was to do some perfomance modding, what would be the best to do first on the xB?

Hey congrats on the new xB2! and welcome to the forum From Sikotics Miami! I would def do an intake and exhaust. Both basic mods and both work well with each other. Anything else after that you can add a Header, Uni chip piggy back system, Will free up some power. Best way to get the most power is a Turbo hands down.

Im running the TRD intake and Tsudo exhaust and im very happy. Wanna do a light weight pulley next and maybe a weapon R header.

turbo is the best bang for the buck, but if you dont plan on boosting the car then intake, exhaust, pulley, and header will give you a little more power

Does the Tsudo exhaust have a loud drone. I know on my last car it was wicked loud. I want a more mellow tone but still get the advantages of doing a cat-back exhaust

The tsudo exhaust is absolutely awesome sound. Its barely noticable at idle. Maybe slightly, and then when you get on it and down shift it sounds great. You can't go wrong with the exhaust honestly.

I have a crank pulley and tenzo intake, with the tsudo exhaust. Its peppy. Its not like holy crap this made a lot of difference. But the sound quality jumps up a ton and makes it a little more fun.

thanks for the suggestions! do you by any chance have a clip of the exhaust sound of the tsudo exhaust? and what would be the best intake for their price?

You can probably find the exhaust clip on youtube.com I would search it for you and put up a link...but I am lazy at the moment.

The Tenzo R intake is probably the cheapest intake for our cars, if you don't want to overspend on an intake this is the way to go.

Oh yeah...Welcome!!!

thanks! do you know any good sites for xB2 parts?

What you looking for?

Sparks has a BUNCH of Toyota, TRD, and some aftermarket.
Fast Scions has a bunch of aftermarket performance parts and body kits.

Plus, other sponsors have other parts too.

For acceleration, I'd get a good intake first- then look into exhausts. For MASSIVE power increase . . .
Get a Rado/World turbo from Sparks or the turbo kit from Fast Scions. Those are the best bang-for-buck.

The header and exhaust alone won't do much on a normally aspirated engine, PLUS a low restriction exhaust can actually LOWER effective power. While it will have higher max power, what it really is doing is sacrificing mid-range for it. That is because backpressure is used to up the mid-range . . . (I'll have to let on of our engineers explain it, as I don't verbalize it well)

For handling, I'd look into:
Sway bar set (I got Hotchkis front and rear)
Front strut bar (really does help, not just for looks-> I got the TRD one)
Performance tires on light rims
Springs (TRD and Hotchkis make wonderful one, plus some others do too)
Performance springs (not many sets exist, . . . yet)
OR-> instead of the last 2, get coilovers on all 4 corners

The xB2 can handle quite well for a front-wheel-drive vehicle, MUCH better than it should based on what type of suspension it comes with. Plus, the power isn't bad new.

if you want my personal opinion an intake and a good sounding exhaust then slam it and spend your money on cosmetics instead of performance because you're pushing a large brick down the street anyways lol

I'd beg to differ . . .

The xB2 is as fast as a tC (same engine and weight), plus the "rounded" part of "xB's (Round) makes the drag coefficient surprisingly low.
With a decent suspension (putting back where SUPPOSED to be-> stronger springs, better rubber, and a rear sway), it goes around a mountain twisty VERY quick. I've passed or "ran up on" many cars you'd think would be much more quick, but aren't.

Oh, and I can double the little yellow signs quite easily and safely in the xB2, which remains below speedlimit, in my OWN lane, and non-squealing tires (safely, in control, and NOT reckless!). It is quicker than you think!

People forget the xB2 is a VERY different driving car than an xB1 . . .

For handling what i've done and def recommend is:
Sway bar set: Hotchkis (gives you front and rear sway bars)
Strut tower bar (front): Tanabe tower bar. just putting this on alone def upped the handling some
Springs: i did the Tanabe NF210 springs. Drops it enough to flatten it out but not so low that it's slammed.
Tires and rims will also up the handling (just don't have the money for them yet lol)

the xB2 def handles awesome for a front-wheel-drive. it handles way better than any FWD car i've owned. even though it's way bigger it handles anything i throw at it way better than my Focus i previously owned before the xB2

Hi I'm new to Scikotics and i just bought a 08 scion xB2. I was wondering if i was to do some performance modding, what would be the best to do first on the xB?

Intake and exhaust..

I have the weapon R short ram intake. Love the sound it produces when you stomp on it, notice a little bit more power... plus it loos good.

as for the exhaust..

DO NOT waste your $$ on an axle back system... here's what I did..

I had the muffler shop CUT OUT my muffler.. yup. I went straight pipe. the sound that it produces is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! WAY better than an after market exhaust and WAY cheaper too.. cost me $130. most of that was my Magnaflow exhaust tip. and without the restriction on flow that a muffler creates you get MORE POWER....

here's a pic:

a little dirty but you get the point..

oh.. and I had to go through emissions this past FEB.. had it put on back in 08. PASSED with flying colors..

Now... if you plan on showing your sexy beast.. you will want a set of these: http://www.scikotics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57291
