just got done with these over at audio midwest, the actual install pics will be up soon, they're gonna be midrange only so they're semi free-air, my midbass drivers will have enclosures in the door, i still don't understand how moving tweeters from the dash to the kicks brings the soundstage up, but it does

I've had custom kick panels in my xB for over 2 years now.

Hey, did you make the enclosure for that screen over by the passenger in your dash?

I've been looking to get one and that's the best fit i've seen, hows the glare from the sun?

thats similar to what i plan on doing, but now with the vacant dash area where the tweeters were i may put two smaller screens up there, 4-5",i actually use that open area where your tv is

Nice job! How does it sound and what size of midbasses are you gonna use and how are they gonna build enclosures? I ask because my midbasses almost touch the window when its rolled down.

i'm amazed at how much better they sound, after further playing around with the eq i may not go with the midbass' since these seem to have exceptional midbass for how small the enclosures are, as for the size i want, they're 6.5" midbass, they're slightly larger than the focals i had in the doors, they have bigger surrounds and a larger motor structure, when we put my focals in the door we made a spacer for them so they sat about 3/4" off the door frame so they wouldn't touch the windows, the enclosure will just be fiberglass behind the door panel to seal them off and eliminate the need for extra deadning, but then again, why drop another grand into midbass' when the ones i have perform better than i expected

the reason i decided to go with the kicks is, i was cleaning out my car one day with the radio playing and while cleaning the floors i noticed the sound was way better down there, so why not aim the midrange at me?, and the tweeters sound better and they're not reflecting off the window so they sound cleaner

I'll try, i'd def like to hear them, I have a similiar setup with tweeters under the dash. I'm trying to work as much as I can and may stilll be working Sat. morning/afternoon. Also, there's a party at Jons Saturday night and a Scion sponsored poker run on Sunday, check the OKC and Tulsa areas for info.

i like having the tweeter near the midrange, but with a passenger (bigger person) you lose a little high end, i may add some ambient tweeters up top to cover that, probably the same kind of tweeter just at -4db or so

well, due to how fast they made them and the quality of work they were a bit pricey, but if you know what your doing and have all the materials i'm sure any person could do them for $150ish, but i've never worked with fiberglass so i let the pro's do it, the guy who made mine learned to fabricate from gary biggs so you can assume the quality of work

here are some of the pics, the car is up for rating on carstereo.com, the guy who posted it is guy from audiomidwest who puts all there good installs up for review

if you have used fiberglass before and done it before you can easily do a set of kick pannels for under 50 bucks.

i watched them do 90% of it so i know how to do it now, its just a matter of finding a place and the time to do it, but i do plan on having some fun with soon, selling all 4 of my w3's on tuesday and i'm gonna run a single 10w7, i'm gonna try to compete in steetclass SQ usac next year
