That looks very nice. Are you going to continue that look on the silver accent pieces on the steering wheel and shifter knob?
Either way, nice work.

To paint the shift nob, do you simply remove the two screws on the back side of the shifter?

Thanks everyone. I thought it turned out great for a rattle can paintjob. LOL
Yes, any piece that is silver is going to be painted purple.

Thanks! It's really pretty easy. You just have to take your time and use lights coats of paint.

Thanks for the compliments!!! I'm getting ready to redo it. I'm gonna make it darker to match some material Kristy found that she wants to use on the headliner. :Vache04:
I need to start on mine too!!!!! LOL

WHAT? Darker, don't make it darker. It's dark enough already. This fabric swatch I gave you is a lighter purple. :Banane02: Like Mr. Banana here.

I used Dupli-color metalcast paint. It has a silver base coat that you use also. Click the link to see a pic of the can. If you use this paint, buy the base coat that goes with it. It's under $5 a can for each. I just bought it at the parts store. I have seen it in red, blue and purple. I used the purple on Kristy's stuff. And of course, the more coats you put on it, the darker it gets. Then I just sprayed some clear over it.

Anyone figure out how to paint the shift nob? That's the last piece I need to paint. If I remove the two screws in the shifter it just allows me to rotate the handle. Am I doing something wrong.

That looks damn good. I'm getting ready to change the color of Kristy's stuff to a different shade of purple that looks almost like your dash. It actually matches her speedo face almost perfectly. Then I will finish with my stuff. :-)

Hey man... just pull your far right and far left air conditioning controles off, there are two phillips head screws... unscrew them and pop the hole center piece out! But there are some electrical plugs beghind them... so dont pull to hard to jerk them and damage them.

I'm just about finished with Kristy's interior pieces. They are outside drying as I type this. I painted the steering wheel pieces, the piece around the shifter and the piece on the shifter knob.
The piece on the shifter knob just snaps into place, you don't have to take the shifter knob off the car. Kristy just used a butter knife and carefully slid it into the little gap between the shifter and the piece and just pulled. It came out pretty easy but be carefull that you don't break one of the tabs off. Then you have to unhook the overdrive button. It has a tab on each side and then the wire is zip tied to it. BE CAREFULL WHEN YOU UNDO THE TABS, THEY BREAK VERY EASILY. I know, I broke one. LOL
I should have taken pics, but I kinda forgot to. LOL

It looks good now that EVERYTHING that was silver inside is now purple. I had to redo the steering wheel because when I pulled the tape off, it took some of the paint off with it. I was not real happy with that. LOL But, I fixed it and got everything put back together and it looks cool. I was a little scared when I went to hook the battery back up after messing with the air bag, but all was ok. LOL
