really its that low? how come the xd has 128 on the sticker and 119 at the wheels and the tc has 161 on the sticker and maybe 130?

It depends on if you have an automatic or a manual. I think the manual has like 144. Anybody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Mines a manual and it dynoed at 132.3 at the wheels

Ok. There ya go. I guess the tC just feels like it has more HP because it has just as much (or more) torque as horsepower.

the torque is all in the low end which helps in acceleration but the top end dies around 120mph on a stock tc, which isn't bad at all cuz it's not necessary to drive that fast anyway.

HAHA. If only we had more torque for the last 7mph....

I read it is 160 at the block and 135 at the wheels, but I could be wrong.

yea thats about right. guy on here i talked to said he got 164 whp with crank pulley i/h/e and etd. dynoed. sounds promising.

If you want to open up the horse power, the headers is the main choak point. One of the guys locally dyno'd at 134 stock manual and with a header jumped to 149. I/E put him right at 160.

I'm going to be over 300 when i get it back from the shop within a few days. I'll post the dyno sheet

Mines a manual and it dynoed at 132.3 at the wheels

This is BS .. i need a refund

i paid for 161

($17000/161hp)*(161-132) = $3062.11 in refund .. wait a minuite. how much is the turbo?
...
...
........
(can you tell i have nothing to do?)

Binder86

Its a small turbo and since im racing autocross it doesn't need high horsepower, just the ability to spool up fast and get me out of the turn asap

yea thats what i want. quick acceleration. i never raced autox but i def want to. what kinda turbo do u have?

Don't worry man, your car comes with around 161hp, it is just at the flywheel, not the wheels.

Mustang Dynos dyno high.

It depends on the year tC and the transmission:

'05-06 Manual: ~140-145 WHP
'05-06 Automatic: ~125-130 WHP
'07-08 Manual: ~145-150 WHP
'07-08 Automatic: ~130-140

On the dyno dynamics one at ptuning a stock auto put out 114 WHP
IMO just choose one dyno and get it dyno'd for base numbers than you can compare from there on as you add mods...

i saw a stock 07' hit 154whp at the dyno shop right before me.

Yes - you need 1 dyno to get a baseline with and then when you re-dyno, use the same one.

I dynoed 137 WHP on a Dyno Dynamics dyno with short ram intake and axelback exhaust.

Sorry to thread jack. But it's a garret t25

sweet!!!
there aint no way a stock auto tc has 114 whp cause a standard xd has 119whp and i drove both tc way more pick up and power so that cant be right.

Like I said it differs on dynos. I was there when they did a base auto TC

Binder86

And the xd weighs more. I think. A lot of it has to do with the gearing ratios which hel in torque multiplicaton (standard trans only) while the auto trans has a torque conv. which act like a turbine to multiply torque.

my 06 auto tC dynod 118whp, 121tq on a dynojet - only had a TRD axleback and TRD drop-in filter.

and the 119whp on the xd is on a 5spd, kris.

05-06 tC's dyno 135-145whp with a 5spd
07-08 tCs dyno 145-150whp with a 5spd

Of all the dynos I've seen on 5spd 05-06 tC's they all dyno'd anywhere from 140-143whp. Never seen a dyno on an 07-08, but they're rated at 5-7more hp.

I have an 07

kris5597
03-01-2008, 10:11 AM
yea i do too. but there is a draw back on my 07. when i hit the rev limiter it dont hop it just waves on it and acts like it will cut out if i dont let of the gas. now losing that for 5-7 more whp. ILL TAKE IT.

The reason it does that is adaptive strategy. the car senses that ther is either too much air or fuel entering and shuts off a component (injector, coil, valve...) which in turn can shut off the car. It's perfectly fine its just a saftey precaution the car is taking.
