The dreaded automatic transmission "thump"

If I accelerate / decelerate at just the right time I gat an awful thump from slack in the drivetrain when it upshifts or downshifts. It seems excessive. Anybody else with an auto trans notice this? My XD only has 37K miles.

Check fluid levels if you havent already. I used to have a vehicle that had a leak somewhere and when it started doing this I would check and it would need fluid and I would add fluid and it would be fine until it got low again.

Mine does it when I shift into 4th sometimes.
