Got this off the sxd forum... I told him to come here also because some of my fellow xD'ers might be interested.
I think he said the website is www.dynatekracing.com (http://www.dynatekracing.com)
We recently tested a new intake manifold, cold air intake, 2.5-inch cat-back exhaust and off-road pipe on a 2007 Xd. The combination improved the power output of the 1.8L Dual VVTi motor from 119 wheel hp (Dynojet) to 146 wheel hp. The single biggest gain came from the custom aluminum intake manifold, though the off-road pipe, cat-back and dedicated Xd air intake were helpful as well. Now its up to the Xd owners to determine if we go into production on these items (we are also currently testing a MAF upgrade and then a low-cost turbo system). If sufficient interest exists among Scion Xd owners, we will also make the aluminum intake emissions legal. We are also interested in working with the various forums to offer a group buy (retail pricing for the intake manifold will be $699.) and even fly the moderators back to our test facility in Las Vegas to verify (and even video) the testing. Dynatek is not a company that is just starting in someone's garage, we have huge production facilities in both Ohio and Nevada. We started out offering products for Mustangs and Cobras, but have decided to offer performance products for the Scion as well as other Import applications. We have made over 200 runs on the dyno so far optimizing the intake manifold alone. We can supply dyno results and photos of the prototype intake as soon as the production piece is ready for viewing. Let us know what you owners think.
Was just talking to my brother about this since I'm not all that when it comes to performance...
Ahhh, that makes more sense. The $700 is for just the intake manifold. The intake mani is the last place the air is before it actually goes into the engine. Air enters in the cold air intake or stock intake, through the throttle body, into the intake manifold, then into the engine. A lot of gains can be seen from "tuning" the intake manifold. However, that alone will probably get you about 15 or so horsepower.
In order to get to the 145ish horsewpower, he says he also had a cold air intake, off road pipe, and exhaust which makes sense. It is pretty much for racing and making power where you need it.
(Tony, I took out some of the other stuff you said just so people can make their own decisions on this, but feel free to edit )
